eraser 722 Posted March 12, 2015 Share Posted March 12, 2015 There are three things that protect a quarterback. A good running game and running back can take the heat off of a QB. A good pass protecting offensive line can keep the bad guys away. A wide receiver, who can get open and is smart enough to find an open area when the QB is in trouble is the third thing that will help a QB. Alex Smith got killed last season. The running game was alright until Jamaal Charles got dinged up. The offensive line was abhorrent. The receivers weren't real good either. I think this is the direction the Chiefs are going. After two years, Bowe and Smith started to get on the same page, but it wasn't enough. Wilson did great for an undrafted rookie. Knile Davis stutter stepped his way into another 3.5 yard per carry average. The future is bright if you look at the right pieces. Unfortunately all those pieces did not come together to play a complete game all season. The Chiefs need to get better. Oakland is gunning for the Chiefs. Their recent acquisitions showed they are serious. San Diego fortified their offensive line. The Chiefs need to do a few things better or face battling Denver for third place in the AFC W. There are many things yet to get done. First and foremost is to put together a much better OL. After that, the Chiefs need to put together a cast of receivers who can find the end zone.
