What I like:

1. Having time to game plan against the Texans.

2. Having a few extra days to prepare for the Packers.

3. Having our first Denver game at home - don't want short week @ Denver.

4. Having the Bye Week to prepare for Denver.

5. Favorable end schedule.

6. Not too bad middle of the schedule (two hard, two ok).

What I don't like:

1. Hard beginning witha short week right away.

2. Playing the Steelers right before London.

3. 4 of 5 first games away.

4. Two road games after "home" game against Lions.

First 4: Win 2 (1)

Next 4: Win 3 (2)

Next 4: Win 3 (Probably more likely 2)

Last 4: Win 3 (2)

It's best case scenario with worst in parenthesis. Best would add up to 11-5, so I'm guessing 10-6 as more realistic with 11-5 as ceiling. Worst would add up to 7-9, so I say floor is 8-8.

I'd be crazy flipping for 12-4.

One early game could mean so much......

week 2...Beat the donkeys at home...

set the pace for the year. Hopefully the pass rush makes a huge difference by pummeling peyton 'lard head' manning into submission...Alex lights up their secondary by hitting kelce over the middle and maclin on any route he chooses to run....

more importantly the left side of the line becomes a strength instead of a weakness..Alex steps up and shows why he's a playoff winning Quarterback!!!!!

ok...I'm...ranting a bit. Still a smart, solid draft could make this team special..

ps..

also the chiefs got some rough games in the scheduling department at least on primetime...Arrowhead should have garnered at least a couple of primetime games...

I say it every year. Somehow, someway get to 10 wins and we will be in the playoffs. I hate trying to predict because I am never right, but here is my breakdown

Must win games:

@Texans-Early season schedule is tough, so opening up with a win will be huge

Raiders-never easy, but they still shouldn't be a team we lose too

@Raiders-read above

Chargers-need to at-least split with the Chargers

@Vikings-Vikings are a good young team, so this won't be easy but is a game we should win

Browns-No excuse to lose this game

Bears-Same as the Browns

Toss Ups:

@Chargers-Charger play well at home in primetime, if Rivers is gone, this would change though

Steelers-Always a toss up with these guys

Lions-No clue how to predict the London game

@Ravens-Same as the Steelers, always seems to be a dog fight with these guys

Broncos-Home opener and primetime and arrowhead should be a great game

@Bengals-Depends on which Andy Dalton shows up

Bills-Honestly almost put this as a loss, Bills are going to be tough this year

Probably Losses:

@Broncos-Until we show we can beat Manning I will never be confident about this game

@Packers-Pretty sure the Packers never lose on MNF in GB

7 games we need to win to make the playoffs

7 games that could go either way, must get at-least 4 of these IMO

2 game I just don't see us winning right now

We have seen enough wins against teams that should have dominated the Chiefs (think breaking GBs win streak at Arrowhead three years ago) and too many losses against "easier teams" that I don't pencil in any wins nor predict any certain losses.  If the Chiefs are just a little better this year, they can compete at Denver just like they did last year and Manning showed his decline late last season.  Just avoid the losses like the opener last year and the Chiefs will be fine.

In order to win the Super Bowl, teams have to win the tough games. A soft schedule does not insure a team that is hardened and ready for a playoff run. I'm OK with the schedule. Bring it on.

Thank You!

Good teams beat other good teams. If we were the team with the 32nd toughest schedule I am sure Chiefs could get into the playoffs...but then what? Lose out to a team that had to fight harder to get there. No thank you. Either we are good enough to beat teams like the Packers, Bengals, Steelers or we aren't. If not then what does it matter as those teams will likely be in the postseason anyway.

Bottom line...Chiefs need to prove they belong.
