Anthony Davis is calling it quits.

After the retirement announcements of Patrick Willis, Chris Borland, and Justin Smith, Anthony Davis' departure further depletes the talent of a 49ers' team that will more than ever depend on Colin Kaepernick to actually be the quarterback everyone said he was in 2012.

The meltdown is epic. This is arguably the worst off-season any NFL franchise has ever had, and there's still two months to go before the first pre-season game is played. Jim Harbaugh's decision to promote Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback and to trade away Alex Smith has proved to be one of the worst decisions ever made by a head coach. Once praised as a visionary, Harbaugh will eventually be recognized by astute 49ers fans as the coach whose ego ruined an entire team.
