Miller is gonna own a lot of linemen the same way Houston does at times. Couple that with Ware and an aggressive DC in Phillips and they are gonna give pretty much any offense fits.

There's a huge difference between a defensive player dominating a matchup over the course of a game, and a defensive player dominating on almost every single play.

I'm not sure why, but as Chiefs fans are trying to resolve the reality of what they just witnessed, they're apologizing for a right guard/right tackle combination that did not play well, or even poorly. They're young, granted, but they played awful, and they were the reason the offense sputtered drive after drive. Andy Reid was trying to call plays that would mitigate their weaknesses, and even with that accommodation, they still struggled to protect Alex Smith.

It is good to know that many of the Chiefs' remaining regular season opponents will not be as fearsome as the ones faced during these past two weeks, but if the Chiefs have any post-season ambitions, they have to shore up that offensive line. Against mediocre defenses, you should be able to demand three seconds of protection for your quarterback. Against elite defenses, you should be able to hope for three seconds of protection with some frequency. If the offensive line keeps losing, Alex Smith is not going to be able to do his job, and the same would be the case for any other quarterback. Even Peyton Manning. At least his offensive line wasn't losing on every play.
