Why Do the Chiefs Score More When Jamaal Charles Is Out?

Before today, the Chiefs have scored 38 points or more on offense only four times during the Andy Reid/Alex Smith era, with all of them coming during a seven-game stretch:

November 24, 2013: 38 points vs. Chargers (with Charles)

December 8, 2013: 38 points @ Washington (with Charles)

December 15, 2013: 49 points @ Oakland (because of Charles)

January 4, 2014: 44 points @ Indianapolis (without Charles)

Can the Chiefs manage another seven-game stretch with big offensive outputs? After hanging 45 on a bad Lions team, maybe this team will play with some confidence going forward.

Play calling is much more balanced the last 2 games. Close to 50/50. When JC is in the game that doesn't happen often.

Andy has had habit of doing this, going 2 or 3 games being more balanced then goes back to being pass happy.

Gonna sound odd but with JC out I think you see more of the run game.

Not a Relevant Issue. Different teams, situations, turnovers etc. Plus Andy is better when games dont matter. NO pressure Andy.

There are so many things that are talked negatively about the Chiefs when the situations are different, the teams are different, etc. Heck, even different regimes and players, people talk as if it has the same predictable result - what's wrong with doing the opposite. Sometimes it'll turn out the same, sometimes it won't.
