eraser 722 Posted November 22, 2015 Share Posted November 22, 2015 Last year we heard reports the Chiefs would only be able to keep one. Either Poe or Howard. Poe suffered an injury due to a weight lifting accident. He herniated two discs in his back. He has had surgery, but ever since, his performance has been affected negatively. Howard has improved, and is now the better of the two. Despite Dontari Poe's freakish ability, he is only ranked around the middle of all Nose Tackles in the league, and some rate his performance even lower. Howard is older, but time may have run out of Dontari Poe. His injury may have been the final piece that pushed the Chiefs into the direction of giving Howard the only long term contract at that position.
