Justin Houston, Mitch Morse, De'Anthony Thomas ruled out of Chiefs-Raiders game

Recommended Posts

It's official: Justin Houston will NOT play in the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Neither will C Mitch Morse, WRDe'Anthony Thomas or S Husain Abdullah.

The knee injury Houston suffered last week against the Buffalo Bills will keep him out. Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said earlier this week that Houston had suffered a hyperextended knee. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said that Houston had made improvements earlier in the week but apparently not enough to have him available for the game.

The Chiefs will get their best look to date at 2014 first round pick Dee Ford. He hasn't played consistently since he entered the league because Houston and Tamba Hali don't leave the field very often. It sucks losing Houston but getting a look at Ford will be a good thing. As for Ford, he says he's ready after preparing like a starter.

The Chiefs also ruled out C Mitch Morse. Presumably this means Zach Fulton will play center as he did last week after Morse went out. The Chiefs also elevated a rookie center,Daniel Munyer, up from the practice squad.

Also out is WR De'Anthony Thomas. He left early in the Chiefs Week 11 game against theChargers so this will be his second straight game he will miss.

That's good. If we cannot beat the Raiders without Houston, we wouldn't be able to beat the better teams with an injured Houston. Beat the Raiders, get him healthy. I think we could use him this game and might need him against San Diego, but be safe first and foremost.
