The Chiefs have Ware and West, and Knile Davis after that. Ware has bruised ribs. Playing RB in the NFL is brutal. West was hurt a few weeks back. Knile Davis can return kicks. I don't know why you would want Ware or West running back kicks. It just does not seem like a good idea.

Need these guys healthy for the run.. To the sb

Don't have to worry about Reid over working them..

We were talking hypothetically, assuming that Charles comes back next season and the Chiefs have him, West, and Ware as RBs.

Steve Beuerlein praised Smith for his running. Beuerlein from HS to Notre Dame to many teams in the NFL never showed any running speed as a QB. He was so slow that against the Packers near the end of a game, his team was barely trailing and they had first and goal from the one. His OC called a QB sneak as he said the Packers would never expect him to run. When, he called the play in the huddle, his unit broke out in laughter. He had to tell them, "Hey, I’m serious". No back behind him and the Packers dropped into coverage. After the snap, he stepped back then, "raced" forward and lunged. He barely made it across the goal line and his team won. The Packers were stunned. So, yes, he can appreciate any QB who has the gift of being able to run well.

I was referring to next year, when everyone starts out healthy.  JC and Ware would be the perfect combination. Thunder and lightning. Right now, we need Ware and West splitting duties at RB as you say. Knile Davis should be gone.  I think DAT has had his shot and should leave also.  I can't stand watching him field punts and then run backwards hoping a lane will magically appear. He does the same stupid thing when he is used as an RB on screens. We need a punt returner who is tough and isn't afraid of collisions. DAT should be afraid.  He is made out of glass. He simply is not built for the NFL game.

Charcandrick West reminds me of Priest Holmes in a way. He has really good hands, and can play in space well. The guy is good at setting up blocks, and a nifty runner. Priest was this little guy, who was built. Charcandrick West is the same. I think Priest had longer legs. West has stumps for legs. He runs really low to the ground, and can make himself small. I also like how he never gives up.

I want Jamaal Charles to return next year. It may take awhile for him to get back to normal. West, Ware, and Charles are the backs next year. I see no reason to change anything. The odd man out is going to be Knile Davis. He probably should have been replaced by Ware at the start of the season. DAT doesn't make all that much money. He has some guaranteed money that will actually count against the Chiefs if they cut him. I think he can be a decent return specialist. I just don't like him playing WR on offense. I think teams were onto that gimmick pretty quick.

By the way, West wound up with 5.4 yards per carry. He ran to pay dirt with a 63 yard pass, but it was taken away due to a stupid penalty on Kelce. On that play, Kelce was supposed to be the #1 receiver. Have no idea why he decided to do a take down. It was totally unnecessary. It was not a good game for Travis, I wonder if his injury put him in a funk.

Now you're just making me feel bad. I had assumed that the illegal block had opened it up for West. Now I see that we really did lose touchdown. Denial was working for me!

I actually LIKE that Ware is low to the ground with stumpy legs.  Those legs are very strong and churn continually after he runs into contact and are very difficult to grab and hold onto. He has a low center of gravity.  It also makes him less likely to get tripped up and less likely to get knee and ankle injuries.  Seeing holes underneath blockers also lets him stretch for an extra yard or two before he meets the tacklers. He also has that attitude and likes to slam into people when he has a head of steam.  He reminds me of the old days of Robert Holmes in the late sixties. Not running upright really keeps him out of harms way. So does keeping his head down.  He is a guy who will break a lot of 7-15 yard runs, not a home run type of runner. He hits doubles.

Don't know about that.  He had a 52 yd run in SD and a 35 yd run against the Bills.  Yes, he is not speedy, but he will drag guys with him for 15yds.  Reminds me a lot of Mike Anderson.  Maybe, a little bit of Marion Barber.

JC, is simply not a winner. Didnt do much in out playoff loss to Indi. We put up 41 without him in the lineup because of another concussion. Fumbles against Denver at a crucial time. The fact of the matter is this offense relies too much on him when he's the center of attention. Reid, becomes complacement and his running game turns into dink and dunks to JC. Reid, ran the ball 5 straight times to start off our only TD drive. Mixing in W&W keeps a defense off balance. If Charles was in there we would have ran, screened to him, then took a sack. JC, is the man, but he's just not a leader. The guy is consistently unreliable and whether or not we like it becoming a liablity to this organization.

I can't get behind this. While I agree that Reid tried too hard to give Jamaal Charles the ball in space, I'm not sure how that is Charles' fault.

That being said, it's unfortunate that when Chiefs fans remember 2015 and Jamaal Charles, first they will remember the season-ending injury, and second they will remember how his two fumbles lost single-handedly lost the first game against Denver. If all other things had remained the same this season, the Chiefs and Broncos would both be 9-4 right now, and the Chiefs would own the AFC West.

I also remember Charles' holdout to start off 2014. It was a contributing factor to missing the playoffs that year. Apparently the Chiefs can win without Charles, which is not what Charles thought at that time.

One of thre greatest runners in Chiefs history, and he is now a scapegoat and a failure???  The very fact that he is a Hall of Fame level player is responsible for him being overused and misused.  Remember, the Chiefs have one of the youngest offensive lines in the NFL, and they were getting Smith killed last year and early this year.  The only way to protect Smith was to keep the defenses focused on stopping Charles.  The only way to do that was by throwing Charles at them over and over and over. Or at least, that was Reid's and Peterson's solution.  I feel sorry for how the guy has been overused and misused the last couple of years.  Any team in football would be ecstatic to have Jamaal Charles playing for them.  Do you know why we are more effective now? It isn't Charles being gone. It is having Jeremy Maclin instead of Dwayne Bowe and having our line a little more experienced. It has nothing to do with Charles being gone.

And Reid still isn't using his backs correctly.

I hope Jamaal Charles returns stronger, faster, and better than ever. He deserves to be on this team right now. It is a shame (I actually thought this the other day during the game), it will be a shame if Kansas City goes to the Super Bowl, and Jamaal Charles is not a part of it. He deserves credit. The Chiefs were in a poor position when Charles came to the Chiefs. Most of the players were only there for their own selfish interest, and could not care less for their team. When the game was over, they left quickly. They didn't share much with each other, and could not wait to leave Kansas City. Scott Pioli came in, and squashed the very last ounce of dedication to the city, and the fans. Jamaal Charles was there, working his butt off. He helped other players on the team. He was the start to a different attitude. Yes, Jamaal Charles is a leader. He is the Leader on this team. To say less is actually to show ignorance of the facts.

He likes to pass.  Basically, he prefers to use the run on down one or two to set up the short pass  He really should consider using it as a primary weapon on down three more often.  Maybe he will, when the O-line is finally set and experienced.  Or maybe Dontari Poe should become a full time third and short RB.  LOL.

Ware, helped us win the Buffalo game. The tackles he broke and runs he busted fired up this team. JC, is one of the most elusive backs in NFL history, but does he really light the fire under his team? He certainly did against Seattle last year - more like a one man team. I just feel with the diversity in the backfield with W&W we have more of a dynamic running attack where more than one person can contribute. The offensive line has thus fed off these two former practice squad members pushing them to NFL greatness. JC, has been more of a leader off the field for these two young studs rather than on the field. I like the direction of this offense and the comradary it has built with Charles out of the lineup. Alex Smith , is more confident and taking more of a leadership role. Maclin, as well. Everybody has picked up their game for the benefit of the team. There Is a sense of purpose And passion in the Chiefs in 2015. Whether or not Charles being out is a direct reflection of this is still unknown. I think a 7 game winning streak is a good indication. I remember a few of you were saying earlier this year that JC getting injured was a blessing in disguise for our Chiefs. I would have to agree. I still would like to see JC healthy again and in a Chiefs uniform. Just not during this year's run.

One reason why I really want/wanted the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl was because between Charles and what you said and Alex Smith having to go as a backup in the year he contributed well in San Francisco and having similarly paid his dues for a losing franchise - it would be pretty sweet for both of them to play and win one.

If we can get to the Super Bowl and/or win it, I hope that there is a long piece on how Charles has helped Ware and West.

Jamaal is back on his feet, and watching practice/giving support.

I really wish the injury had been a 7 week injury that needed three games of warmup work. That way, we'd have seen what Ware and West can do, assuming they didn't need Charles out for the year to do so, see the offense evolve without Charles, and then give defenses the Charles factor to worry about. My hope then would be that Reid would use Charles more traditionally, run enough, and call fewer passes to the RB. (Obviously, I'd wish for no injury and Reid knowing what to do with everybody, but if we were really wishing, my wish wouldn't be football related.)

The Chiefs may have to go this playoff drive without Houston as well. Twitter reports from reliable sources indicate the team is sending Houston to the Birmingham offices of Dr. James Andrews. Dr. Andrews is a surgeon who specializes on knee repair. Houston's knee was sprained by friendly fire, as a teammate collide with his knee, and caused hyperflexion of the knee.
