Former first-round pick Trent Richardson worked out for the Broncos Tuesday.

Per Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Broncos could sign Richardson to a futures contract. Futures contracts count against a team’s 90-man roster limit and are generally signed in January.

Richardson, 25, was the No. 3 pick in the 2012 draft by the Browns and was traded to the Colts the next year for a first-round pick. He was cut by the Colts after last season and went to camp with the Raiders. He previously worked out for the Bills.

Richardson ran for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie with the Browns. He averaged just 3.3 yards per carry, which is also his career average, on 159 carries for the Colts last season.
