Report: Chiefs looking at Freeman as potential Johnson replacement

Recommended Posts

The Kansas City Chiefs have previously indicated that re-signing Derrick Johnson was one of several priorities heading into free agency.

While the team and Johnson's representation may have been in communication regarding a potential deal as a result, Kansas City now appears to be weighing its options elsewhere.

The Chiefs are expressing interest inIndianapolis Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman as a possible replacement for Johnson, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

Freeman, 29, would give the Chiefs a younger linebacker to bolster the front seven should the 33-year-old Johnson sign elsewhere.

The former CFL standout has been a consistent contributor since making the transition to the NFL in 2012, recording an impressive 478 tackles, 12 sacks, and four interceptions across four seasons.
