Tyreek Hill discussion outside the lines

1:30 EST

As I wondered earlier this week whether the Kansas City Chiefs misjudged the reaction to the selection of Tyreek Hill, I noted that it was mostly still a local story. National outlets hadn't yet picked up on the Chiefs selection.

It's no longer just a local story. A few national outlets have picked it up in recent days and now ESPN's Outside The Lines will tackle the Hill case in a segment this afternoon.

"It was a pick buried five rounds and 165 selections into last week's NFL draft but it's becoming larger and larger news," Bob Ley says in the ESPN promo for the show at 12:30 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) this afternoon.

"The Kansas City Chiefs saying they did their due diligence selecting return man Tyreek Hill ... Hill pleaded guilty to beating and choking his pregnant girlfriend. He had been thrown off the Oklahoma State team and yet 20 NFL teams visited D-II West Alabama to see a player one coach once called the fastest guy in the world. How this plays in Kansas City where in 2012 a Chiefs player murdered his girlfriend and committed suicide."

Watch the promo here. 12:30 p.m. on ESPN.
