Weekend Training Camp Notes (7/30/16 - 7/31/16)

Recommended Posts

Tamba starts on PUP list. Zombo takes his place.

Ford had a nice sack today against the ones.

Ehringer is starting at LG

Murray and Flemming are strictly playing safety.

They are taking it slow with Gaines but he looks good when in there.

Nelson is starting opposite Peters at CB when Gaines is out. Cooper is current 4th CB and plays nickel back when Gaines is out.

Russell and White have flashed on second team.

Parker starting at FS and Sorenson at SS.

Albert Wilson is the #2 WR and playing really well.

Bray and Murray are battling it out. Murray is much more accurate thus far. Bray has bigger arm but overthrows people a lot.

Starting offense was really crisp all weekend. It is weird but they seem to be ahead of the defense at this point. Normally, it's the other way around. It could have to with 3-4 starters out on defense.

None of this shocks me. Ehringer lacks NFL strength. He may start now, but sub behind Hah Reid when the season starts. He needs two full seasons in a professional weight training program to get where he needs to be. Everything else is there. He should be a good player in time.

It will not surprise me if neither Bray nor Murray make the final cut. The Chiefs need a legitimate back up, and rookie, Kevin Hogan is most likely not it.

If you are going into the season with two veteran back ups who cannot get it done, then you really have no one. So, why have a backup. If Smith goes down, and you lose those games by ten points instead of fourteen, will it matter?

Why is Ehringer playing with the ones?  Do the Chiefs project him ahead of Reid/LDT or are they just trying to see what Ehringer has? I thought he might be developed at RT.   Aside from that, no real surprises.  Thanks for the summary, Mugs.

Ehinger is their 4th round pick, but he is also extremely talented. They want to push him to start. Whether it works or not, we will have to wait to find out. He gets great leverage with good technique, He isn't ideally strong. He isn't ideally athletic. He is a good leader, and disciplined.
