Parity, 2016

Recommended Posts

After two weeks, five AFC teams and only three NFC teams are yet undefeated, and the Eagles still have to play their game in Chicago tomorrow night.

AFC:

1. Baltimore Ravens

2. Denver Broncos

3. Houston Texans

4. New England Patriots (Jimmy Garoppolo may not play)

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

NFC:

1. New York Giants

2. Minnesota Vikings (Adrian Peterson may not play)

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Of those five AFC teams, only the Patriots have allowed more than 20 points per game. The three undefeated NFC teams have allowed no more than 16 points per game.

It's hard to go undefeated in the NFL. It's a little easier if your defense is shutting down decent offenses.

Next week:

Texans @ New England

Redskins @ New York Giants

Ravens @ Jacksonville

Broncos @ Cincinnati

Vikings @ Carolina

Steelers @ Philadelphia

In 2011, 2012, and 2014, there were only three undefeated teams left after three weeks. In 2013 and 2015, there were still seven remaining.

It's possible that the league could have only one undefeated team left by next Sunday night. Most likely there will be three. Which one do you believe will be the last undefeated team standing?

Currently, Denver seems to be the best team in the AFC West. They're getting good starts by their previously unknown Northwestern QB. He has done well. It's a long season. That could be their achiles heel.

We should not predict the season based upon 2 games. KC can win the west, but they have to get Houston back, and they need to get down their timing on offense.

There's always next year guys...  But we'll represent you well again.  Go Broncos!

Your team has earned wins against an overrated offense in the Panthers, and a Colts team that coughed up two defensive scores. After two weeks with Siemian, I don't comprehend the basis for your confidence for 2016. The teams your team is beating are shooting themselves in the foot. The Chiefs just played such a game, but such a game is not exactly characteristic of what the Chiefs are as a team.

I'm not close to thinking the Broncos finish this year better than third place in the AFC West.

Wishful thinking.... we saw exactly how the broncos played with a turd at qb last season. They didn't require even mediocre play at the position. This year appears no different.

As for the Chiefs, they once again appear to be consistently inconsistent.

Oh good lord...  "shooting themselves in the foot" aka getting rekked by the best defense in the NFL.

A ridiculously high shotgun snap on the opening drive is not a forced turnover, and it led immediately to a touchdown. The fumble by Spencer Ware on the Chiefs' sixth drive was forced, but also completely avoidable; it was first down and he was right at the sticks, but the fumble instead lost a net of 37 yards.

I'm not about to credit the Texans with showing the best defense in football last week. The Chiefs did indeed shoot themselves in the foot.

I'm not really worried either. Having Siemian under center basically leaves your team with no margin for error. In two games, the Denver offense has outscored opponents by a total of 1 point. If the Denver defense isn't putting points on the board, and if Denver's opponent isn't missing 40-something yard field goal attempts, Denver's not going to continue winning games.

The Broncos: Third place in the AFC West. I'm sticking with it.

Broncos still rolling and off to a relatively soft stretch.  Hell only team on the schedule, that could honestly be a loss, are the pats...

Ravens getting it done with Defense.

Pats - No matter what happens, will they ever have a bad season???

Pittsburgh not sure on today's game but they are looking VERY balanced.

After three weeks, three AFC teams and two NFC teams are yet undefeated.

AFC:

1. Baltimore Ravens

2. Denver Broncos

3. Houston Texans

4. New England Patriots

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

NFC:

1. New York Giants

2. Minnesota Vikings

3. Philadelphia Eagles

Next week:

Bills @ New England

Raiders @ Baltimore

Broncos @ Tampa Bay

Giants @ Minnesota

Eagles @ Philadelphia

It is conceivable that at the end of week four, the only remaining undefeated team will be the team that was on bye. However, not at all likely.

It will be interesting to see who wins that last game listed, the Eagles or Philadelphia since both are on a bye week.
