Now that an NFL stadium deal has passed through both chambers of the Nevada state legislature, Raiders owner Mark Davis reportedly plans to sign it on Monday. I mean I never have nor most likely never will go to Vegas but how many people are in the general metro area?I thought Vegas was on life support?. As we in the KC area know, you can get round trip flight trips to vegas for like 200 bucks...and you know how dirt cheap you can get hotels for. What this basically did is created an affordable opportunity for people all across the country to go see a their team play the Raiders on the road while getting the benefits of a weekend in Vegas. There will be no home field advantage for the raiders, as every game will basically be a neutral game when you see how the fans are divided in the stadium. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Wednesday that the league has miles to go before green-lighting a franchise move to Nevada. "There's still a great deal of information that we need to gather with respect to the circumstances we see in Las Vegas, the opportunities and also the challenges," Goodell said from the Fall League Meeting in Houston. "Those are the things we'll look at through the committee, and report back to them maybe as early as December, but more likely later than that." Goodell told reporters that three California-based teams -- theRaiders, Chargers and Rams -- made presentations on Wednesday morning about "the status of their efforts to get stadiums built." "As it specifically relates to the Raiders, the presentation was informative. It was factual," Goodell said. "The membership had the opportunity to ask questions. The chairman of the committee, Art Rooney, made it very clear that this is something that is a significant focus of the stadium committee, has been and will be going forward." Raiders owner Mark Davis made it clear on Wednesday where he stands on a potential move. "I'm gonna say this for the last time, alright?" Davis told reporters. "When I met with Governor (Brian) Sandoval for the very first time, he looked me in the eye and said, 'Are you using us for leverage to get a better deal somewhere else?' I told him I've never done that with a city and that if they come up with what we're talking about, that we would be moving or doing our best to come to Las Vegas." Said Davis: "About a week before he called the special session, he called me up there, we went up and we had lunch. He looked me in the eye again and said, 'Does that still stand?' I said absolutely. If they come up with what we're talking about, we're gonna move to Las Vegas." It's worth noting that Goodell didn't shoot down a potential Raiders shift from Oakland to Nevada. I see a problem with the gambling aspect of this move. Definitely, the Raiders want a new venue. In Al Davis fashion, I hope they sue the NFL, and it is a long odious ordeal. They will also have no issues filling the stadium as half of the crowd will be visiting fans looking for a fun cheap weekend filled with gambling, public drinking and hookers. The city has a population of over 600,000 and a area population of over two million. Both are larger than KC or the KC area. I used to fly in there at the beginning of my career and think the population was around 50,000. Why the growth? It's people retiring from the west coast that don't want to pay 13% state income tax plus the climate, entertainment, dining, and golf are super.
