KCSLC2008 606
So apparently, having an 85.3 ESPN QBR rating in this game lowered Smith's QB rating. Hmm... (The top is 82.9, by the way.) How can a significantly higher rating in a game than your season overall rating lower your rating? He wasn't capped out in one category that he dropped in. Either the totals are screwed up or the individual game's is. This is not the same as traditional QB rating.
liquidfriend 1,151
QBR is a dogshit statistic. I've debated this (with Mugsy, blackbob or w/e) to heck and back.
robgar 1,046
as far as qbr goes you can't analyze a statistic that is unpublished as to what it actually means.. i.e there is no known formula for reproducing this stat.. which makes it impossible to analyze. KCSLC2008 606
BJ KisselVerified account @ ChiefsReporter 44m 44 minutes ago According to @ PFF, Alex Smith had a perfect QB rating (158.3) against the # Saints' blitz, completing 7 of 9 for 120 yards & 2 TDs. When the offensive line can block well, blitzing helps the quarterback a lot because there are fewer defenders out there, especially for short to intermediate passes. But when the offensive line is inconsistent, it is terrible for the quarterback because he has no confidence in being able to complete the play, even if there is in fact a pocket. Much is said about the New Orleans defense, but Smith trusted the line for those nine plays, so that is good.

DefensiveMan 758
Maclin was screaming the loudest Interesting. I guess the safety broke off releasing Maclin after judging the ball wasn't being thrown to him.
KCSLC2008 606
Interesting. I guess the safety broke off releasing Maclin after judging the ball wasn't being thrown to him. Still a bad throw. But it was into a window when he could have checked down. Conley would have been a better choice. Kelce would have been better and safe. Oh well, it just wasn't Maclin being that open as the pic that has been circulating.

Meanwhile, quarterbacks around the league are struggling with consistency.
