White Broken Hand

Recommended Posts

Chiefs nickel CB D.J. White suffered a broken hand in Week 7 and is out for Week 8 against the Colts.

White needed surgery this week. White has been running as the Chiefs' No. 3 corner the past three weeks, but has been given poor coverage marks from Pro Football Focus for his coverage. Phillip Gaines will go back into the lineup after getting roasted Weeks 1-3. The Colts' pass game is in a great spot at home.

BJ Kissel & Rotoworld...... Where do they get GAINES was roasted?

K Russell, a change will do him good. No statistics available. Maybe not. If he can't get into a game playing for Cincinnati, maybe he just wasn't good enough.

A lot of folks had Russel as a 4th round pick. Even at that, you would expect him to play special teams.

White has done well. It sort of makes up for Russell, but not quite. White broke his hand, but has had some moments to indicate he can play at this level. He's done more than Russell. White has not been placed on IR, so there is hope he can still play this year. Lots of guys play with broken hands.

nope goes back to fucking up that pick all to hell..one of a few reasons my honeymoon with Dorsey has gone Buh bye

Russell wasn't a reach at the time of the draft.  Like a lot of draft picks, he just didn't transition to the NFL, at least not yet.  We may never know why he was released while White and Murray were kept.  I don't blame Dorsey for this one.  The Chiefs were in desperate need of CBs and tried the shot gun approach in hopes on hitting something.

Another glass db

Defensive backs get hurt more often than their counterparts. In order to be fast enough, they have to be fairly slight. In addition, the players often reduce their weight by decreasing the size of their padding. They travel nearly 20 miles per hour, at top speed, and make sudden impacts. It is not shocking they get hurt. So, the DB of glass is an issue with most teams in the nfl. That is why most teams carry quite a few on their 53, and stash a few more on their practice squads.

Hard to tackle with a cast after surgery too.

It shouldn't effect his tackling. He can wiff with a cast on.

I like having Gained back out there. He isn't great, but better than White or Nelson. I hate to say it, but Fleming may be the second best CB on the team. He looks better this year. Trouble is that nobody is even close to Peters.

It's correct because someone who is not him will be playing in his place. He's been terrible. Hopefully he's young and will learn but he has no ball skills and gets turned around easy. He's lost out there. Not ready. Next.

Problem is we don't have a lot of depth back in the secondary. I'd rather see Ron Parker at Corner in this game.

KC traded SF a conditional pick for Kenneth Acker, and then traded Marcus Cooper to AZ for that same pick. For all practical purposes, this was a three team trade, whereby KC got Acker, SF got a conditional pick, and AZ got Cooper.

So, we can complain all we want about giving up Cooper, but the question remains, what is the deal with Kenneth Acker? Acker was a promising CB, who played well in spots as a rookie for SF, even though he was merely a 6th round pick. Marcus Cooper was an UDFA, who played well for KC after struggling to remain with SEA. However, soon enough, teams learned how to exploit Cooper's lack of presence on the field. Despite, his height, athleticism, and speed, Cooper had difficulty after he was picked apart by more veteran quarterbacks. He never recovered for the Chiefs. So, despite a quick start this preseason, the Chiefs were eager to trade Cooper, and only too happy to try their luck with a younger, more promising Kenneth Acker.

Acker suited up for 2 games. He has no stats. What is the deal?
