Four divisions don't have even one team with a record that good. The AFC West has the biggest positive scoring differential in the league. The AFC West has had the 4th-toughest Strength of Schedule thus far, and has the toughest Strength of Schedule going forward. The Chiefs are the only team in that division that is undefeated in divisional matchups. If the Chiefs win against the visiting Jaguars, they will jump to second place in the division behind the winner of the Broncos @ Oakland game. In the off chance that the Sunday Night game ends in a tie, the Chiefs would be the best team in the AFC West. In case you're aspiring to greater things, the Patriots hold the common games tiebreaker over the Chiefs, and the Chiefs' present advantage in Strength of Victory won't kick in unless the Patriots lose two of their three games against the Jets and the Broncos. If the Chiefs win out, they are guaranteed a first-week bye. There aren't a lot of NFL teams that can attain to that without some help. Ice up. I expect Alex to come back with more purpose if Foles does well in his place. You have to assume that deep down he's scared that he'll lose his job to a concussion, again. A pushed Smith would be a good thing. It would be a smart hybrid of what we need (deeper attempts) and what he is (protect the ball) without the risk of Foles being un-2013. Throw the damn ball out of bounds He stupidly trusted his opponent to not be dirty - but he didn't learn that the first time in SF, last week against the Saints, Addai in SD, or earlier this game. We don't need him running for a two yard first down. He better have thought he could get more than a stinkin' first down on 2nd and 2. Even if one is happy to see Foles, one should hope the coach wasn't risking his QB on a two yard gain. He had to think it had more potential either on that play or loosening up the opposing D. The fault is in not going down soon enough. There should be no question that Smith is giving himself up well before he liable to be hit. Sure, it's a judgement call about getting the first down or going down early, but Smith has to error on the side of caution. The second hit, where the defender dribbled Smith's head like a basketball off the turf wouldn't have happened if Smith had gone down a fraction of a second earlier. I agree, especially after that earlier scare, the earlier game in New Orleans, San Diego's Addai, the hit he took in San Francisco, and I don't think the Colts are not that above heading someone late. dhitter 1,424 Posted November 1, 2016 Share Posted November 1, 2016 Smith needs to be smarter when he takes off with the ball...the Colts defenders were headhunting and going for knockouts on a lot of plays.
