2017 Pro Bowlers

Nine Chiefs have been named alternates to the Pro Bowl, including quarterback Alex Smith.

 

Others on the list: offensive tackle Eric Fisher, outside linebackers Dee Ford and Justin Houston, defensive lineman Dontari Poe,

inside linebacker Derrick Johnson, special teams standout D.J. Alexander, punter Dustin Colquitt and kicker Cairo Santos.

 

Earlier in the week, four Chiefs were announced for the Pro Bowl: safety Eric Berry, cornerback Marcus Peters, tight end Travis Kelce

and return specialist Tyreek Hill.

this blows my mind how Smith and Houston made it (even as alternates)

 

Smith is obviously not having a great season stat wise, did all the other QBs say no because it is not a free trip to Hawaii this year?

 

Houston has barely played, did he make it on name alone?

 

 

as Dman said, i would rather that these guys are in Houston the week before instead of settling for Orlando and the Pro Bowl

Yes, Smith did not have a good one, but he's the first alternative - it's probably because of our record. No one has refused yet, not even the original players. Reports were that he was an alternate last year and he declined when the starter declined.
