jetlord 10,209
Yeah, he sure does. Fortunately for him, Hill and Kelce were able to provide some big plays and the Broncos were too bad to not capitalize on yet another bad INT. His internal clock needs to work faster and he needs to get the ball out before the pressure gets to him. Not sure the INT was all on Smith. Guess he should have eaten the ball, but he was hit before the ball left his hand and Hill was behind the defender. Smith's game would have been even better if Harris hadn't dropped a sure TD right in his hands. I won't blame Reid of Smith for shutting down the offense in the second half. They had the game in hand as long as DEN didn't get a big break.
liquidfriend 1,151
Goes back to his internal clock. Someone that has been playing in the league as long as he has been should know he's gotta get rid of that football before the hit. Denver got an easy TD off that turnover, but that Defense is banged up and demoralized. They had no shot at keeping them in the game.
liquidfriend 1,151
and I wouldn't lose any sleep over them calling that Poe TD pass Reid never lets him even try it if the game was close, or in a close game.
Calichief 3,016
For the first time, I'm going to defend smith. He couldn't get rid of that any faster. 2.2 seconds he got that off. And he made the right read. Hill was open
liquidfriend 1,151
He had enough time to get rid of that ball and I think that Len Dawson agrees.
NChiefsCorner 496
Smith was hit in less than 2 seconds, not his fault.
NChiefsCorner 496
According to many of you it feels like Reid is getting the Trump treatment, because no matter what he does he's wrong.

NChiefsCorner 496
Hill wasn't the deep WR, there was another WR to Hill's right that was deeper, but the ball went to Hill after Smith was hit.

KCSLC2008 606
Either way, it wasn't smiths fault.. My dad said that Smith usually tucks the ball away in that situation, so maybe it's a good thing he went for it. There was a chance he wouldn't be hit. Even when we don't connect, as long as we win, we are at least show teams that we'll go deep. They'll have to defend it, opening up shorter passes. Obviously, the 80 yarder was a shorter pass, but it felt like the average pass travelled in the air more this game. At least for most of the game. I know, we set the bar real low. DefensiveMan 758
We need more QB scrambles in the playoffs. That will keep drives alive for us. Smith, is notorious for this in big games.

Yep. 2 seconds wasn't enough time to even think to tuck it. I'm defending him. He made the right decision in my mind there.
