Steelers game

Recommended Posts

I am still dumbfounded as too how the chiefs played. Seeing what NE is doing to the steelers , wtf is wrong with our coaching staff.

Reid should have not given the week off and allow Toub to interview. We were playing against the 29 th ranked special teams and we did dick all.

Players were not ready for the stage. That's on ReId.

I'm still pissed about the whole game.

Chiefs better retain berry and work with Charles to get him on board.

Do you suppose the reason is that we are not as good as New England?  Just wondering.

You might have a point. Not having Jamaal Charles, Josh Mauga, Parker Ehinger, Derrick Johnson, Jaye Howard, Allen Bailey, and the fact Justin Houston was not completely healthy, after missing almost all of the season may have hindered their cause.

The Pats handled the Steelers pretty easily. I'm starting to wonder why all these other coaches (including Ried)  can't be prepared like Belichick.

Andy overthought the fucking thing.  What he did on the first series of the game was genius.  Problem is he stayed with that philosophy the whole fucking game until the end.  After that first series where they were using our playmakers as decoy he stayed with the same gameplan and it fucking backfired.  He should have hit them in the mouth with Kelce and Hill right after that.  He had them on their heels and fucked it all up but thinking he was outsmarting a Superbowl Caliber coach.

Based on the results...we aren't even close. But you gotta ask the questions "How much of that difference is Brady"? "How much of that difference is Belichick"?

Also since we couldn't beat the Steelers at home...throw in the fact we aren't as good as they are.

There was a rumor that their first 30 plays were scripted.  Just a rumor, but that is unheard of, if true.

How much of that difference is having the defense allowing the least Points Allowed in the league?

Hmmmm....seems to me we were in the top ten in that category. 6th or 7th? New England gave up one whole point less than the Chiefs defense. The difference was on the offensive side of the ball.

Huh? How is 311 one point more than 250? That's almost one point per quarter played. Factor in one defensive touchdown given up by the Chiefs, and that doesn't come close to closing the gap between the two defenses in the one category that matters.

Or were you talking just about the playoff game, in which the Patriots allowed 9 points over the Steelers' first 9 drives instead of 18 points over the Steelers' first 9 drives? The Patriots played twice the defense the Chiefs did. The Patriots actually forced punts. The Patriots got the Steelers off the field so that Tom Brady could wear down the Steelers' defense, rather than the way it was for the Chiefs, whose bend-then-break defense stayed on the field and ultimately yielded points in most cases, but not until after contributing to the full refreshment of the Steelers' defense.

Injuries notwithstanding, there are no apologies to be made for the Chiefs' defense if a legitimate defense like the Patriots is the standard against which they should be compared.

Sutton, adjusted far too late in the game. Ford was later removed in favor of Zombo bc of his piss poor run defense.

I was talking about the two playoff games. Chiefs gave up 18 points...Patriots 17. Not really that hard to follow. The difference in the two playoff games is what the offense did for New Engoland vs what the Chiefs offense failed to do. That also is not hard to comprehend.

I'm not arguing with you about the reason for Ford's benching, but if memory serves me correctly the Chiefs were getting gashed by the run because Bell wasn't forced to bounce runs outside the tackles. For the most part, it was the job of the inside linebackers and the defensive line to stuff the run.

You could sub out Ford for a better run stopper in Zombo. There was no one else to put in place of the five defenders that mattered most.

No, you are the one not following. How is giving up 18 points in 9 drives the same as giving up 9 points in 9 drives? Scoring in football is about opportunity. One could argue that if Smith gets a tenth drive, the Chiefs were in position to win the game against the Steelers. When Ben Roethlisberger's team got its final touchdown and a two-point conversion at the end of its tenth drive against the Patriots, the game was already well out of hand. Part of that was because Brady's offense had also run ten series.

Opportunity. It's not enough to compare the final scores. You need to count the possessions.
