liquidfriend 1,151
The flipside with Berry is that he has to be very careful with his demands. He's going to be nearing 30 when he finally hits UFA next season and teams aren't going to line up to give him record guaranteed money and a long contract thst isn't filled with fluff years he'll never see. He's going to more or less get what he's probably being offered now and have to face another season of no security.
liquidfriend 1,151
I will also go ahead and say don't rule out a cap and trade. If the Chiefs put Berry on the block, Pioli will absolutely call and the Falcons will make aggressive moves this offseason. Berry absolutely would prefer to go home. KC Warpaint 3,235
I'm not expecting my opinion to be shared by all others. Are you suggesting that no one agrees? I'm pretty sure that if the Chiefs don't re-sign Berry, that means the Chiefs agreed with me. What's your justification for keeping Berry at any cost? Because Louis Riddick warned that the Chiefs are doomed if they don't 'pay the man'? Or has civility gone out the window in this forum? i have no justification for keeping him at ANY cost, i will approach it from the PR side. he is a very popular player for KC and he beat cancer. put those two together and if the chiefs don't keep him then they will be vilified by the press, fans and possibly some inside the locker room. Will people get over it if he is not a chief? of course but a lot will depend on how the FO handles him and others

liquidfriend 1,151
Raiders will be in the mix and Denver I don't think KC would ever pick up if they called. On the flipside, Oakland might kick the idea of just signing him away.

DieHard 2,061
I don't thank no we franchise him. Way to much money. I don't think trade is realistic. I don't think we resign him and then turn around and trade him. He will sign. We will over pay. I love the guy, but we are not on a cap position to over pay a safety. New England would let him walk. liquidfriend 1,151
-I read somewhere that the Faders are projected to be over $40 mil UNDER next years cap. w They also only have around 31 players under contract and looming deals with Khalil Mack and Carr to tackle. That figure is a bit deceptive.

liquidfriend 1,151
Players say shit all the time and change tunes when they sign a new deal. The Ravens kicker went from fuck this team to happy to be a raven in 2 days. His agent is telling him to do posturing to put pressure on Dorsey. liquidfriend 1,151
There's a 0% chance he sits the season out. He doesn't gain a year worked and the Chiefs would get a 13 million cap credit to franchise him again in 2018. Either he plays out half the year on the tag, signs an extension or rots on the couch unless the Chiefs decide to tsg and trade.
eraser 722
It benefits the Chiefs to get a deal done with Eric Berry. It benefits Eric Berry to get a deal done with the Chiefs. They both want it. I think it will happen.
