Yeah, good article. I had something to say about it:

The weaknesses of the offensive line are in fact reason to call a screen. But we’ve been down this road before, haven’t we?

 

On the other hand (and perhaps more constructive), isn’t it interesting that Nick Foles’ time-to-throw stat (which was two hundredths of a second quicker than Smith’s) was likely pulled down by the eight screen pass attempts out of his 55 total? 11.2% of Smith’s pass attempts were logged by ChiefsFetish as wide receiver screens. 14.5% of Foles’ pass attempts were screens. Both quarterbacks were asked to execute quickly from behind a shaky offensive line. Once you remove the screen plays from the calculation, Smith evidently had the lower time-to-throw.
