Here is another hypothetical that has been on kind since the beginning of the season: would the Chiefs be any better than they are currently had the cap situation been under better control, and the Chiefs weren't forced to cut Maclin?

 

Let's also assume that Maclin doesn't get an attitude with Tyreek Hill rightfully take his position as the #1 WR. I can't help but wonder how having Maclin in Chris Conley's role, thus moving Conley to the #3 WR which is occupied by Albert Wilson.

 

Keeping Maclin would have meant having to cut either Demarcus Robinson or DeAnthony Thomas, which I think Robinson would get the nod over Thomas because he's a better WR than Thomas, and then the Chiefs I assume would have either C.J. Spiller or bringing back Knile Davis for Kickoff Returns.

I absolutely agree.   Losing Maclin who is still far and away the best receiver we have had in many years was a real disappointment to me.

I think we could have kept him pretty easily. Mistake by Dorsey. Probably the final straw that cost him his job.

 

Maybe Conley finally makes that leap.

Maclin has done squat for Baltimore. I have read, most by on fan specifically, how Flacco is so much better than Smith and how Maclin will flourish in Baltimore. Sorry folks, Maclin was mediocre ehen he arrived and always has been.

He had one reception for 8 yards today.

 

Flacco was 8/18 for 28 yards and two pics...and he got the hook and was replaced by Ryan Mallett.

The Chiefs will do fine without Maclin.  He was good when healthy, but not worth the cap space.

Certainly not worth nearly 12 million a year. The Chiefs offense runs through Kelce, Hill and now Hunt. No need for an overpriced WR.
