Rumors that he might want to be traded to a contender.

It's funny how the Chiefs released a veteran possession receiver because they were ready to 'move forward', but now that the Chiefs' Super Bowl prospects clearly hinge on moving the chains on third down, suddenly the Chiefs need to acquire a veteran possession receiver.

Fitzgerald's contract is worth $11 million in base salary. The Chiefs have just over $3.5 million in cap room. Fitzgerald will not be playing for the Chiefs unless he gets released, and even then it's a long shot.

Demarcus Robinson needs the playing time and he looks good. Even al Wilson is starting to show some semblance of a WR

Not getting the move forward point your making? We were in bad CAP shape and releasing him solved it. Part of the reason Clark likely fired Dorsey was because he got tired of constantly having our backs against CAP wall. No way Andy wanted a WR group with so little experience. But he and Alex are making it work. Losing Conley didn't help.

In any case trade deadline is this week and if Veach got anyone I'd prefer a corner. But with Nelson coming back that likely won't happen. Hey if we traded a mid round pick for Fitz I'd be fine with it though. Seems highly unlikely.

Boldin wants back in, too... but wanting to go to a contender is different than leaving your team late and wanting back in. Plus, Fitzgerald is a more accomplished WR having played more recently.

Boldin isn't far removed from the game so if he gets released by the Bills I think he's the logical choice. Fitz is way too expensive to even consider.

His contract would be pro rated because we are 8 weeks in.
