Andy Reid chicks**t for not putting in Mahomes in 3rd long situations.

CWIA...Everybody has an opinion and pretty much everyone thinks their opinion is the right one. Okay....but calling names and trashing others is bush league. Perhaps you'd like it better over at Chiefs Planet...the free for all mentality might suit you better.

True, but against Dallas, Alex looked more like Peyton Bender in the pocket than he did someone that could run a 4.68.

Well coached defensive teams will box him in and give nowhere to run. There's not many QBs in this league more adept at moving chains at critical times as he is. Take that away and he's largely an average QB until this year (well still a little better than that because he doesn't make mistakes many others do). Overall as the film suggests, he played poorly vs Dallas.

We will have to redefine poorly when Mahomes plays by the way. There will be more turnovers for sure.

It's Alex's fault the Oline can't hold their man longer than 1 second. Didn't you know that? Our Oline is a finesse line. Fisher is average. LG is below average. Center is slightly above average. Right Guard is slightly above average and RT is average. None of these guys will ever make a Pro Bowl and no one will ever confuse them for the line that blocked for Priest Holmes.

Alex has his blame because he has happpy feet, runs into sacks, and checks down quickly when he could step up - but it's a hindsight game to specify single plays. He knows where pressure should come from because he's an above average pre-snap read QB, but he doesn't know who is going to be beat when.

A team with a bad LG but good rest of line is preferable because you know to look out for the left. But if it is LG one play, RG the next, good everywhere the next, bad up the middle the next, here is where you have troubles. In hindsight, the good protection play is a comfortable one, the LG one is one where you drift right or step up to the right or scramble. But how do you know that wasn't the shifty RG play instead?

Yes, pocket presence and some QBs are better than others. We've seen good and bad presence from Smith, but if you know it's going to be ok with a few variables, you're good to go. If it's everywhere randomly, it will affect each play. It's easy to say one should know when or assume good protection each time until we get sacked or picked.

Alex ran 4.68 at combine, Mahomes 4.8. Any other questions?

I doubt Smith is fater than Mahomes. He ran better at the combine 12 yeras ago but probably slowed down over the years. He still has nice speed and very good mobility for a QB, even though we haven't seen it against Dallas.

Mahomes probably has better speed but mobility is rarely a matter of just speed so I don't think we know how mobile he's at this point. Need to see him in game action next year to determine that.

A Prius has more legroom than some of the pockets Smith has had to work with. Not sure if there's a stat available, but it seems like he gets a lot of passes swatted down by defensive linemen... that ain't because he has room... that's because the pocket is collapsing leaving no gaps to throw from. Kinda hard not to run into a sack when three 300 lb lineman are in that prius chasing you....  :D
