Chiefs already picked up his option for 2018 so he needs to be fully healthy to be cut, otherwise Chiefs are on the hook for 8.7 million for 2018. I'm guessing they simply rescind the option in the offseason and hope to get a compensation for him after he signs somewhere else. Obviously he needs to be healthy for that to happen.
