I think the coaches still view kpass as too green for the high stakes playoff game. Zombo is average at best in all categories, but I feel like they felt more comfortable about the consistency level with zombo. I would have at least liked to see kpass get some sub package rush end opportunities.

At what point do you tell yourself on the sideline, "Gee the scheme and personnel I have on the field is a wet paper bag, maybe putting in a physical freak could help......it surely can't hurt".   Our staff says that stuff and thinks that stuff after a playoff loss.    Its maddening!

This is becoming an issue with our coaching staff.

Zombo is not average he is terrible. Has been terrible all year.

West is the same a below average player given opportunity after opportunity.

Do we even need to mention Gaines?

Witzmann was bad all year

To me Dan Sorenson is the same as Zombo. A specialist being used way to much. I get the injury thing but why isn't the waiver wire being worked? Because we are too busy signing and releasing a washed up spiller.

I don’t know what the love affair with Zombo is. This was his 8th year and I have seen no improvement over the last half dozen seasons. At least with Kpass you are developing a guy. Zombo is in his prime. He is 30 years old. He is not going to get better.

Why the fuck did he not just let Na5vy call the plays? He gets to fucking cute and we saw it. From this article it is now known who called what....

After the offense played dead in the second half against the Titans, Reid said he called the plays that didn’t work and assistant Matt Nagy called the plays that did.

I've wanted him gone for years now, but I believe bob views him as a security blanket at olb or ilb. Hopefully veach won't let his guys keep unimpressive security blankets

That's reid covering for his boy. He always does that.

So than what makes you think that going 4 man front fulltime is a magic pill? And Sutton only went 4 man front out of dire need.

It's not the scheme. The players suck at a lot of spots.

Great post.

Who gives a shit what the scheme is.

It truly changes during the game.

Stop the damn ball.

It changed from down to down. The current environment of the nfl, you almost never in base defense.

Yeah you are talking about formations. I'm talking about scheme. Not just how they line up. The strategies involved, the plays called, the philosphiy a given DC adopts, adjustments made during the game. This is all schematic.

Like I said whether we run a 34 or 43 is much less important to me than our next DCs mentality and aptitude. Suttons defense allows the offense to dictate what it does. I want a defense that fucking ATTACKS!

Not sure if we have any LBs that can play in 4-3. Ragland was sent packing specifically for that reason so I assume he won't be useful. KPL is coming from a 4-3 system where he never excelled to a solid level but he might be progressing better in KC.

I don't know what the DE situation is. KPass looks like he would be better at DE regardless of the scheme. Houston is probably the best 3-4 OLB in the NFL right now but might be able to make the switch. Nevertheless it's a risk.

If Chiefs stay at 3-4 either Logan will be resigned or a new NT will come in. Regardless there's a need to spend money there. OLB is also a concern, even though KPass is showing promise Chiefs could use at least a stop gap type of player in FA which is rarely available. ILB seems to be set with Ragland/KPL/Wilson. DEs are also set with Jones and Bailey.

Regardless of the scheme Chiefs need to add at least a couple guys to the front 7. Considering that sub packages take up about half of the snaps I don't see any reason to switch the base scheme and worry about the player and coaching adjustment. Right now Chiefs are in a position to find at most 2 starters in the draft and there are holes elsewhere. Right now the problem seems to be the coaching mentality rather than the scheme as this weird vanilla approach will get killed regardless of how players line up.

People just cannot seem to wrap their heads around the fact that Kevin Pierre Louis is an unrestricted free agent.

I don't think he has any market in FA so will get a cheap deal. If that turns out to be the case Chiefs will be more than happy to give him that contract and see what he can do with an extended role.

How the hell do you know if he has any market?

I don't that's why I'm using "think" rather than "know" :) He played very limited snaps in KC and I doubt he created a market for himself with such a small sample size in a supporting role. He seems to be in a similar situation that Abdullah was in 2013.

He may be, but we just traded for him and he is the dj is aging crutch.. imo we will tender him if that's even an option for us, or we will get him signed before he gets a chance to make visits. For right now he is a part of the plan moving foreword.

Thats fine as long as he is depth. If he is our solution as a starter we can expect more of a lack of explosive plays.
