MisChief-Maker 135
Patriots For the last eighteen years since they got that "QB", and that "coach", they've gone through a spell only dreams are made of. Brady and Bill aren't seen as the goat QB and goat coach for nothing. Steelers Have won the most SB's in the history of the game. And currently have an SB winning coach with a hall of fame QB, the best WR in the game and one of, if not the best RB in the game. Denver Built one of the best defenses the game has seen, and had a legendary QB to put the icing on the cake. Ravens Again they had a defense that will go down in history and did it again in 2012 Miami Had one of the greatest ever teams to play the game, and went to the SB a combined five times in the 70s and early 80s. Hell, even the Colts were dominant at one stage with Manning and Faulk. And the Bills made FOUR Sb's in a row. So basically we've had to compete with two sides who have won the most superbowls, and another two sides who built incredible defenses and have seized their opportunities when they have arrived. Does anything think if we were in the NFC that we wouldn't have gone to more SB's by now? The common denominator with all of these teams is they've either had a legendary QB, or a legendary defense. The only time we had a legendary QB (Montana) we almost made it to the SB. Apart from that, we've never really had a legendary defense, have we? These are the lessons we have to learn. Let's build a frikken defense that people will lose sleep over and hopefully Mahomes can be the star we all hope he can be. This is the only hope we have of getting to the promised land. This season, though we won our division again, we had many holes in the team. Secondary, no rush, QB was hot and cold etc. So in reality, we were always pretenders. Now it's time to get serious and finally become the real deal.
Balto 723
I'm thinking the 2020's will be the years of the Chiefs! Mahomes is about to start a career right when Tommy/Bill are almost done and Steelers feel the pain of no Big Ben.

We might be getting a huge headstart on the rest of the AFC IF Mahomes really is the real deal.
sith13 1,746
Hopefully that ends up being the case in 2020s but most franchises are hoping on the same thing. We need to build a winning philosophy beforehand to get a jump start.

PAChiefsFan79 136
Good point. Tom Brady and the Double B have completely dominated the AFC for so long that it has only allowed for a few opportunities for other strong AFC teams to have a chance. Then remember Peyton Manning dominated most of the other games. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2018/1/24/16928234/the-next-great-afc-quarterback
