First Round Mock 2.0

Recommended Posts

1.  Buffalo Bills (f/CLE) - Josh Rosen, QB  UCLA

-The Bills trade both firsts, second rounders and 2019 first round choice for #1 overall, 97th overall pick-

The Bills are locked into moving on from Tyrod Taylor and don't have the cap space to go after a Kirk Cousins.  They will need to make a splash in the draft, and opt to go super aggressive to get their top choice.  Rosen has a good blend of upside and ability to start right away, and is a real good fit in the Bills Offense.

2.  New York Giants - Sam Darnold, QB  USC

Darnold is a completely acceptable alternative choice.

3.  Arizona Cardinals (f/IND) - Baker Mayfield, QB  Oklahoma

-Arizona sends the 15th pick and a 2019 first to Indianapolis for the 3rd overall pick-

The Cardinals absolutely need to come out of here with a starting QB, and they know Baker won't make it past Cleveland again and the Broncos.  I look for them to be aggressive with getting a long term answer at QB, for once.

4.  Cleveland Browns - Josh Allen, QB  Wyoming

The Browns were really hoping to land Baker at 4, but just missed.  Josh Allen will have to do.

5.  Denver Broncos - Quenton Nelson, OL  Notre Dame

The Broncos are a mess, having missed out on all the QB's.  They will now turn to improving the OL and the run game to carry the load.

(They will end up panic trading for Nick Foles)

6.  New York Jets - Saquon Barkley, RB  Penn St

The Jets will spend some big FA dollars to bring in a new QB (Cousins) and a go to target for him (Landry).  Now look for them to get another weapon to help take some of the load off his shoulders.

Now the Jets have dang near a whole new, potent Offense.

7.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB  Alabama

The Bucs gave up a lot of huge plays in 2017.  With Nelson, Chubb and Barkley gone Fitz is the best move.

8.  Chicago Bears - Calvin Ridley, WR  Alabama

The focus for the Bears will be to give their young QB help, and Nagy will look to upgrade the shittiest group of receivers in the NFL.  Ridley will be the new #1.

9.  San Francisco 49ers - Denzel Ward, CB  Ohio State

The 49ers will look to upgrade the secondary to slow down the high-flying attack of the Rams.

10. Oakland Raiders - Orlando Brown, OT  Oklahoma

The Raiders had massive issues at OT in 2017, and it directly had an impact on Derek Carr.  Newhouse is a really bad RT and Donald Penn is rapidly declining at LT.  The Raiders have to fix the spot.  While the Defense needs work everywhere, they have to prioritize protecting the most expensive investment in Raiders history.

11. Miami Dolphins - Roquan Smith, LB  Georgia

Miami has some of the worst LB's in the NFL.

12. Cincinnati Bengals - Vita Vea, DT  Washington

The Bengals spent a lot last year investing in edge rushers to get after the QB, so now I look for them to get an interior guy inside next to Geno Atkins.  The Bengals now have a front line that can be devastating.

13. Washington Redskins - Da'Ron Payne, DT  Alabama

The Redskins really sucked at stopping the run.

14. Green Bay Packers - Tremaine Edmunds, OLB  Virginia Tech

Clay Matthews is old and has a year left in GB.  It might be time to replace him.

15. Indianapolis Colts (f/ARZ) - Joshua Jackson, CB  Iowa

The Colts move down and get tremendous value here.  Jackson is a top 10 guy who will easily replace Davis and they have a future extra 1 in their pocket.

There will be some questions about Luck, but I don't think they should panic just yet.

16. Baltimore Ravens - Mike McGlinchey, OT  Notre Dame

The Ravens are stuck with Flacco for at least a few more years, so better get him help I guess.

17. Los Angeles Chargers - Billy Price, C  Ohio State

The Chargers have 2 young Guards and now nab a Center to go with them.  The older Rivers get, the more important it'll be to get him quality protection.

18. Seattle Seahawks - Marcus Davenport, DE  UTSA

The Seahawks will have a lot of re-tooling to do on its once dominant Defense.

19. Dallas Cowboys - Taven Bryan, DT  Florida

The Cowboys will look to continue upgrading its DL.

20. Detroit Lions - Maurice Hurst, DT  Michigan

The Lions will look to quickly upgrade it's Defense.

21. Cleveland Browns (f/BUF) - Derrius Guice, RB  LSU

Dorsey tabs a future workhorse here with one of the picks they scooped up.

22. Cleveland Browns (f/BUF,KC) - Ronnie Harrison, S  Albama

With the 2nd choice Dorsey decides to tab a Safety.

23. Los Angeles Rams - Derwin James, S  Florida St

The Rams run this card up to the podium and land a replacement to replace a soon to be leaving Joyner.

24. Carolina Panters - Will Hernandez, OG  UTEP

The Panthers will need to figure out a replacement for soon to be gone Norwell.

25. Tennessee Titans - Arden Key, DE/OLB  LSU

With a philosophy shift in Nashville, the Titans will need to add some edge rush.

26. Atlanta Falcons - Mike Hughes, CB  Central Florida

The Falcons struggled with pass D.

27.  New Orleans Saints - Rashaan Evans, LB  Alabama

The Saints will look to continue to upgrade its D.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers - Sony Michel, RB  Georgia

The talk will be about the Steelers looking to replace Ben, but I look for them to build around Ben if he plans to play 3 more seasons.

Why a RB?  Because I expect them to let Le'Veon Bell walk in FA.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars - Lamar Jackson, QB  Louisville

They are stuck with Bortles for 2018, but don't expect them to stay pat with him.  They will have a fallback if he shits himself.

30. Minnesota Vikings - Donte Jackson, CB  LSU

Terrance Newman is a trillion years old and needs to be replaced.

31. New England Patriots - Kolton Miller, OT  UCLA

The Patriots may have to prioritize finding a new LT with rumors that Solder will end up retiring.

32. Philadelphia Eagles - Carlton Davis, CB  Auburn

The Eagles are slated to have a couple corners hit FA, which is bad because they have no cap space at all and they will deal with the SB over charge on impending FA's.

I don’t see Dorsey doing that. They have a gazillion picks. It’s not like they need to add more. Possible, I guess.

I think they will take their pick of the QBs at 1, and Barkley at 4. If he is gone, they could get Chubb to pair with Garrett. Or...maybe they trade that pick to a QB needy team. I think they are stupid if they do.

Who knows, though. Crazier things have happened.

33. Cleveland Browns - Martinas Rankin, OT  Miss ST

With Joe Thomas openly talking about retiring, the Browns will use one of the shitload of 2's they posses to land a developmental tackle to eventually replace him.

34. New York Giants - Chukwuma Okorafor, OT  Western Michigan

The Giants were desperate enough to move Pugh over to RT last season, which was a big diaster.  The Giants have to fix that.

35. Cleveland Browns - Isaiah Oliver, CB  Colorado

The Browns need help at CB.

36. Indianapolis Colts - Ronald Jones II, RB  USC

The Colts need to land a feature back to carry the load.

37. New York Jets - Tim Settle, DT  Virginia Tech

After trading off Sheldon Richardson and soon will be dumping Wilkerson, the Jets suddenly have a need at DT.

38. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Duke Ejiofor, DE  Wake Forest

The Bucs need to address edge rusher.

39. Chicago Bears - Jaire Alexander, CB  Louisville

The Bears will need some help in the secondary.

40. Philadelphia Eagles (f/DEN) - Brian O'Neill, OT  Pitt

-The Broncos trade a 2018 2nd, cond. 2019 3rd to PHI for QB Nick Foles-

The Eagles will need to find somebody to replace Jason Peters, who is more than likely finished.

41. Oakland Raiders - Leighton Vander Esch, LB  Boise State

The Raiders need some help at LB.

42. Miami Dolphins - Mark Andrews, TE  Oklahoma

Gase rolled the dice with his former TE in Denver, with not good results.  The Dolphins will look to upgrade.

43. New England Patriots (f/SF) - Harrison Phillips, DT  Stanford

The Patriots struggled a lot with getting things done on the front.  They have to fix that.

44. Washington Redskins - Christian Kirk, WR  Texas AM

The Redskins need to find a good YAC guy for Alex Smith at WR, and Kirk excels at that role.

45. Green Bay Packers - Hayden Hurst, TE  South Carolina

Bennett was a disaster FA signing, so time to draft one.

46. Cincinnati Bengals - Isaiah Wynn, OL  Georgia

Letting Zeitler walk to Cleveland was a diaster. #asexpected

47. Arizona Cardinals - Connor Williams, OT  Texas

The Cards made a big FA signing at OT a few years ago and it hasn't panned out like they had hoped.  They need to change course.

48. Los Diego Chargers - Justin Reid, S  Stanford

The Chargers passed on S in the first round the last 2 drafts, so I look for them to finally make that move here.  Boston did well for them last season, but I anticipate he will leave.

49. New York Jets (f/SEA) - Tarvarus McFadden, CB  Florida State

The Jets look to add to its secondary.

50. Dallas Cowboys - James Washington, WR  Oklahoma State

I think the Cowboys are growing tired of the Dez Bryant saga, and will now release him post-draft.

51. Detroit Lions - Nick Chubb, RB  Georgia

The Lions grab a new workhorse for the Offense.

52. Baltimore Ravens - Antonio Callaway, WR  Florida

The Ravens are so desperate for good receivers they take a huge gamble here.

53. Cleveland Browns (f/BUF) - R.J. McIntosh, DT  Miami

The Browns add some beef to the DL.

54. Kansas City Chiefs - Darius Leonard, ILB  South Carolina ST

The Chiefs are tired of being gashed by YAC and runs up the middle.

55. Carolina Panthers - Harold Landry, DE  Boston College

The Panthers will place edge rush as a priority.

56. Cleveland Browns (f/BUF) - Simmie Cobbs Jr, WR  Indiana

Browns add some more talent at WR.

57. Tennessee Titans - Auden Tate, WR  Florida State

The Titans thought they were getting a deal with signing the great white hype at WR, who was nothing but hype.  Time to shop again.

58. Atlanta Falcons - Trenton Thompson, DT  Georiga

Falcons will be looking to add more to the front 7.

59. San Francisco 49ers - Courtland Sutton, WR  SMU

Jimmy Grapes needs weapons!

60. Minnesota Vikings - Rasheem Green, DL  USC

The Vikings need to replace Floyd, who will never play again.

61. Jacksonville Jaguars - Braden Smith, G  Auburn

The Jags will upgrade it's OL for Borts.

62. Pittsburgh Steelers - Josey Jewell, ILB  Iowa

The Steelers will need to replace Shazier.

63. New England Patriots - Anthony Averett, CB  Alabama

The Patriots will need to replace Butler.

64. Cleveland Browns - Dorance Armstrong, DE  Kansas

John Dorsey had plenty of freetime while sitting around in Kansas, and probably scouted Armstrong a lot last season.  Would be a nice add for the Browns.

I remember John Dorsey saying something along the lines of saying the Browns need to draft football players.

Here's what I also think:

1.  This draft isn't amazing for top end talent.

2.  The Browns don't seem to really favor any QB.

3.  I can't see Dorsey valuing any RB enough to spend a top 5 choice to get one.  It doesn't fit his M.O. at all.

Love reading these when you guys post these. Thanks.

Love reading all the scenarios.

I do the think the niners will take Ridley if he’s there.

I think they see Garcon as their #1 guy, so I'd actually be surprised if they went WR in the first.

I highly doubt that Chubb doesn’t go in the first round.

I'd be amazed if he went in the first.  He's not even the best Georgia RB in the draft.

I don't see us taking a project ILB. Not when we have eligwe already. And definitely not with our first pick

I have not heard enough on Eligwe to think they wouldn't take a look.

2.1

1.  Cleveland Browns - Sam Darnold, QB  USC

Dorsey will be looking for a long time answer for the Browns at QB, which they haven't had since Bernie Kosar.

2.  New York Giants - Josh Rosen, QB  UCLA

Eli Manning has been declining for awhile, and is now rapidly declining.  Unless they hate all the QB's, I can't see them passing.

3.  Indianapolis Colts - Quenton Nelson, G  Notre Dame

While Chubb and Bradley are dynamic talents, the health of Andrew Luck is absolutely vital to prevent an early retirement.  Nelson is absolutely the best OL prospect in the draft.

4. Cleveland Browns - Saquon Barkley, RB  Penn St

Dorsey gambles on taking his top pick at QB, but also getting the best player in the draft and it paid off.  While Dorsey doesn't value RB's very much, the overall talent can't be ignored.

5.  Denver Broncos - Baker Mayfield, QB  Oklahoma

The Broncos absolutely need to come out of this off-season with a new starting QB.

6.  New York Jets - Bradley Chubb, DE  North Carolina St

The Jets hang tight, with Kirk Cousins on the roster, and go straight up BPA.

7.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB  Alabama

The Bucs gave up a ton of yards/points, and need to do some major work on the secondary.

8. Chicago Bears - Calvin Ridley, WR  Alabama

The Bears absolutely need to find a #1 WR for their young QB.  With Ridley, maybe a healthy for once Kevin White and I anticipate Albert Wilson as a FA, they might finally have a chance.

9. San Francisco 49ers - Joshua Jackson, CB  Iowa

The 49ers kicked the tires on trading for Marcus Peters, so I'd anticipate that CB will be high on their wishlist.  Jackson should quickly lock himself in as the 49ers #1 corner.

10. Oakland Raiders - Orlando Brown, OT  Oklahoma

Derek Carr took some significant injuries the last 2 years because the highly touted OL let him down.  Donald Penn was a major disappointment in 2017 and they had a tirefire at RT.  Look for Gruden to prioritize helping his QB.

11. Miami Dolphins - Denzel Ward, CB  Ohio State

The Dolphins have major issues at CB.

12. Buffalo Bills (f/BUF) - Josh Allen, QB  Wyoming

-Bills send 1+2+Cordy Glenn to Cincinnati for 12-

The Bills leap ahead of the Cardinals to get a qbotf.  The Bengals take an extra high choice and a proven veteran LT to protect Andy's blindside, which was an issue for them in 2017.  With that they can move Fisher to RT and the current RT into a cannon, directly into the sun-

13. Washington Redskins - Da'Ron Payne, DT  Alabama

Washington has had a lot of problems with stopping the run.

14. Green Bay Packers - Derwin James, S  Florida State

The Packers are about to lose Morgan Burnett, so they swap him out with a promising and cheap rookie.

15. Arizona Cardinals - Lamar Jackson, QB  Louisville

The Cardinals have 0 QB's right now, so they will need to get one somehow.  I look for them to get a temp starter for today and a developmental one somewhere for tomorrow.

16. Baltimore Ravens - Tremaine Edmunds, LB  Virginia Tech

The Ravens will be on a quest to get younger on Defense, and one of the biggest changes would be moving on from Suggs.  Edmunds would absolutely be his replacement, and a great value at 16.

17. San Angeles Chargers - Vita Vea, DT  Washignton

The Chargers know very well that the teams success hinges completely on its DL, and will be looking to add onto it.  Brandon Mebane has dropped off a cliff and will be replaced.

18. Seattle Seahawks - Marcus Davenport, DE  UTSA

The Seahawks will need to quickly find replacements for Avril and Bennett, so Davenport here would be a good start.

19. Dallas Cowboys - Mike McGlinchey, OT  Notre Dame

The Cowboys lost Doug Free to retirement last year and Leary in FA.  Drafting McGlinchey allows them to shift the former RT over to LG and have a stronger unit.

20. Detroit Lions - Arden Key, DE  LSU

The Lions will end up keeping Ansah and will add Key across from him.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (f/BUF) - Rashaan Evans, ILB  Alabama

The Bengals gambled with Kevin Minter at MLB in 2017, and it was a disaster.  The Bengals now have an extra draft choice, a new cog for their Defense and a new blindside protector for Andey (Fisher struggled at LT).

22. Buffalo Bills - Billy Price, OL  Ohio State

The Bills need to find a new Center.

23. Los Angeles Rams - Isaiah Wynn, OL Georgia

With the only choice happening till Saturday morning, the Rams will look to make this pick count. They could use some help in the interior line.

24. Carolina Panthers - Sam Hubbard, DE  Ohio State

The Panthers are about to become majorly thin at DE.

25. Tennessee Titans - Donte Jackson, CB  LSU

The Titans will be relying more on coverage sacks going forward, so they will need to address the secondary further.

26. Atlanta Falcons - Maurice Hurst, DL  Michigan

Hurst slid down some, and the Falcons will benefit in result.  With the Eagles piss-pounding that front 7, they have to add to that front.

27. New Orleans Saints - Hayden Hurst, TE  South Carolina

Coby Fleener sucks a bag of dicks, so the Saints will look to upgrade at TE.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers - Ronnie Harrison, S  Alabama

The Steelers appear to have changed their minds and will keep Bell.  With Bell and Ben back, they will look to fill some other holes and Mike Mitchell is a weak link on that D.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars - Will Hernandez, OL  UTEP

The Jaguars have a major hole at LG.

30. Minnesota Vikings - MIke Hughes, CB  Central Florida

Terrance Newman is like a zillion years old.

31. New England Patriots - Taven Bryan, DT  Florida

The Patriots are pumped that Taven fell to them.

32. Oakland Raiders (f/PHI) - Sony Michel, RB  Georgia

-Raiders send their 2nd,4th round picks to the Eagles for the 32nd pick-

The Eagles look to move down as they will need to rely on the draft to fill holes as they don't even have lint under the couch for FA's.  The Raiders look to surge past the Giants, Colts, Jets and Broncos to get the best of the rest.

  • 2 weeks later...

1.  Cleveland Browns - Saquon Barkley, RB  Penn State

Word is the Browns are locked in on Barkley and thing he's the most special back in the last 25 years.  I don't think he's the most special back in even the last 3 years (EE was better IMO) and certainly not better than AP.

The Browns do need an impact player and he's got the most talent, so I kind of see it.  I think the Browns are making an absolute mistake, but mistake and Browns are a marriage.

2.  New York Giants - Sam Darnold, QB  USC

The Giants will start Eli for now, so they don't need an immediate starter.  They need a QB that they know can handle the attention and NY media.  Darnold has the upside and has plenty of experience from being in LA.

3.  Cleveland Browns (f/IND) - Baker Mayfield, QB  Oklahoma

-The Browns send the 4th and 64th pick in the draft for 3-

The Browns drop a spare pick to make damn sure they get the QB they want.

Chris Ballard needs lots of draft capital to replenish the roster and will gladly take an extra 2nd to move down one spot.

4.  Buffalo Bills (f/IND,CLE) - Josh Rosen, QB  UCLA

-The Bills send the 21st, 22nd and 56th picks to the Colts for the 4th and 86th pick-

The Bills don't have much cap space to make a splash for a FA QB and they are looking for a 15+ year starter.  That was the plan all along once they moved down in 2017, and the plan is finally happening while only losing one actual draft selection to make it happen.  That's a win for Buffalo, considering how damn far they are going up.

The Colts shift down again to re-stack a roster in need of a nearly total rebuild.  Having 6 draft selections in the first 2 days is how you overhaul a bad team.

5. Denver Broncos - Quenton Nelson, OG  Notre Dame

I think ultimately horseface gets spooked with another rookie QB and will either trade for Foles or sign Case Keenum.  Adding Nelson to go along with prized 2017 FA acquisition Ronald Leary would give them a stout interior OL.  If they can get better production from Mongo, and an adequate RT they will have a stout line again.

6. New York Jets - Josh Allen, QB  Wyoming

The Jets are going to swing and miss on Cousins and will opt to build this over a longer term plan.

7.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Bradley Chubb, DE  North Carolina State

The Bucs are super excited to get Chubb here.

8.  Chicago Bears - Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB  Alabama

Fitz is drawing a lot of comparisons to Jalen Ramsey, and the Bears will be in need of db help.

9.  San Francisco 49ers - Derwin James, S  Florida State

The 49ers will be looking at a big name CB in FA, so I anticipate they will draft a replacement for Eric Reid here.

10. Oakland Raiders - Roquan Smith, LB  Georgia

The Raiders are in dire need of a sideline to sideline guy up front that can make some plays.

11. Miami Dolphins - Vita Vea, DL  Washington

A bit of a stunner, right now.  In the big picture, I think Gase intends to totally rehaul that roster and I don't think Suh will be in those plans.

12. Cincinnati Bengals - Mike McGlinchey, OT  Notre Dame

The Bengals suffered from some god awful tackle play in 2017, especially at Right Tackle.  There will be talk of QB, but I don't anticipate the Bengals looking to replace ginger warrior yet.

13. Washington Redskins - Da'Ron Payne, DT  Alabama

The Redskins need to plug up the awful run Defense.

14. Green Bay Packers - Tremaine Edmunds, OLB  Virginia Tech

The Packers need more pressure at the edge.

15. Arizona Cardinals - Joshua Jackson, CB  Iowa

The Cardinals plan to go Offense, but have too good of a choice at CB to not go CB.

16. Baltimore Ravens - Lamar Jackson, QB  Louisville

The Ravens pull out the real first upset in the draft.  Flacco was an Ozzie guy and Ozzie is no longer the guy

DeCosta will copy the Chiefs gameplan to send shockwaves down a roster that has been a total underachiever for years.  Perform or GTFO.

17. Los Diego Chargers - Denzel Ward, CB  Ohio State

The Chargers just can't depend on Verrett and need to get a #1 CB.  Ward here is insane value.

18. Seattle Seahawks - Marcus Davenport, DE  UTSA

I am actually shocked that Carroll is still in Seattle, with how much the roster needs rebuilt from the ground up.  The Seahawks start with a new edge-rusher to replace the outgoing Bennett

19. Dallas Cowboys - Isaiah Wynn, OL  Georiga

Cooper was a major weak link for the Cowboys once elite Offensive Line at LG.

20. Detroit Lions - Sam Hubbard, DE  Ohio State

After getting skullfucked in the SB due to a weak DL, I can't see first year homeless guy at HC looking to neglect his DL in the motorcity.

21. Indianapolis Colts (f/BUF) - Will Hernandez, OL  UTEP

Ballard will look to completely revamp an ineffective OL that led to Luck missing an entire year.  I anticipate they will spend big money to steal away a certain upcoming FA LT from Foxboro, move their current LT over to RT and plug in a road grader at LG.  Add in a young Kelly at Center and suddenly you have a revamped OL.

22. Indianapolis Colts (f/BUF) - Nick Chubb, RB  Georgia

The Colts never had a chance at Barkley, but will take Chubb here to take the load off Luck's broken shoulders.

23. LA Rams - Arden Key, DE/OLB  LSU

The Rams just dumped off Robert Quinn and Connor Barwin is so meh.  They are going to have to prioritize an edge rusher.

24. Carolina Panthers - Donte Jackson, CB  LSU

The Panthers were absolutely roasted by the Saints in the WC round and need some quality talent and speed in the secondary.

25. Tennessee Titans - Mike Hughes, CB  Central Florida

The Titans will need to make another big investment at DB to run the new bend but don't break Defense.

26. Atlanta Falcons - Taven Bryan, DT  Florida

With the Falcons about to acquire Bennett in a trade, look for them to beef up inside.

27. New Orleans Saints - Hayden Hurst, TE  South Carolina

Coby Fleener fucking sucks.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers - Rashaan Evans, LB  Alabama

Tough luck on Shazier.  He's never going to play again and the Steelers D paid tribute by going completely limp with him.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars - Calvin Ridley, WR  Alabama

The Jaguars could end up losing Robinson and Lee at the same time, and will have to prioritize WR if any of them go.

30. Minnesota Vikings - Isaiah Oliver, CB  Colorado

Terrance Newman is a hundred billion ka-trillion years old and needs to be replaced.

31. New England Patriots - Leighton Vander Esch, LB  Boise State

Billy B has been brutally fucked by his LB's and was at point relying on an ancient James Harrison.  While Harrison was a boost, he's going to fix that problem.

32. Philadelphia Eagles - Colton Davis, CB  Auburn

The Eagles are going to be majorly hurting at CB with all the players they are about to lose.

33. Cleveland Browns - Ronnie Harrison, S  Alabama

Poopers looked completely lost as a starter, which led to major plays given up.

34. New York Giants - Derrius Guice, RB  LSU

The Giants tab a lead back to carry their Offense.

35. Cleveland Browns - Orlando Brown, OT  Oklahoma

The Browns take the advice of their new starting QB and grab the guy that protected him in Oklahoma.

36. Indianapolis Colts - Justin Washington, WR  Oklahoma State

Ballard comes back and gives Luck a chain mover.

37. New York Jets - Sony Michel, RB  Georgia

With Forte retiring, the Jets will look for a new lead back.

38. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Justin Reid, S  Stanford

The Bucs come back and go S to hopefully lower the big plays they've given up.

39. Chicago Bears - DJ Chark, WR  LSU

The Bears tab more help for the young QB.

40. Denver Broncos - Ronald Jones, RB  USC

The Broncos need to land a lead workhorse for it's Offense.

41. Oakland Raiders - Kerryon Johnson, RB  Auburn

Marshawn Lynch was a nice ticket selling move, but now they need a young back that's hungry.  Look for a RB early with Gruden being a strong believer in the run.

42. Miami Dolphins - Kolton Miller, OT  UCLA

The Dolphins pick up Miller to play RT, so they can rescind the option year for RT Ju'Wuan James at the end of the draft.

43. New England Patriots - Martinas Rankin, OT Miss State

The Patriots will need to find a replacement for Solder.

44. Washington Redskins - Harold Landry, DE/OLB Boston College

The Redskins are about to lose Trent Murphy and Junior Galette in FA.  They will need some help here.

45. Green Bay Packers - Mark Andrews, TE  Oklahoma

Martellus Bennett was a FA bust.

46. Cincinnati Bengals - Billy Price, OL  Ohio State

The Bengals take the value with Price to help shore up a weak interior.  Partial tear in the biceps is nbd

47. Arizona Cardinals - Terrell Edmunds, S  Virginia Tech

The Cardinals are about to get rid of Mattieu, so they will need to find a replacement.

48. Los Diego Chargers - Harrison Phillips, DL  Stanford

The Chargers need its DL to be up to par with their edge rushers.

49. Detroit Lions (f/NYJ) - Maurice Hurst, DT  Michigan

The Lions trade off a later round choice to the Jets to get ahead of the Cowboys for the local kid.

50. Dallas Cowboys - Dallas Goedert, TE  South Dakota

The Cowboys know that Jason Witten is nearly finished physically and that it's time.

51. New York Jets (f/DET)- Jaire Alexander, CB  Louisville

The Jets are having a quality draft by attacking the biggest need on Defense with Jaire.

52. Baltimore Ravens - Christian Kirk, WR  Texas A&M

The Ravens have been linked to Landry, but I don't see them making the trade.  They will take the younger, cheaper option in Christian Kirk.

53. Buffalo Bills - James Daniels, C  Iowa

The Bills need to find a new starter at Center with Eric Wood retiring.

54. Kansas City Chiefs - Tim Settle, DT  Virginia Tech

The Chiefs DL, sans Jones, has been a major disappointment.  The Chiefs will start be replacing impending FA Bennie Logan.

55. Carolina Panthers - Duke Ejiofor, DE  Wake Forest

The Panthers will need to add some talent at DE.

56. Indianapolis Colts (f/BUF) - R.J. McIntosh, DT  Miami

It's time for the Colts to start adding to the Defense, and they begin by adding a disruptive inside guy.

57. Tennessee Titans - Equan St. Brown, WR  Notre Dame

The Titans have invested a lot into WR over the years with some dog shit returns.  Corey Davis looks promising, but they will need more than A WR.

58. Atlanta Falcons - Braden Smith, G  Auburn

The Falcons are making a hole at OG, so they will need to fill it.

59. San Francisco 49ers - Connor Williams, OT  Texas

The 49ers need to add some youth at OT.

60. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jessie Bates, S  Wake Forest

Mike Mitchell sucks and should be cut.  Bates would be a major upgrade.

61. Jacksonville Jaguars - Nick Nelson, CB  Wisconsin

The Jaguars are about to lose Aaron Colvin, so they will replace him in the draft.

62. Minnesota Vikings - DaeSean Hamilton, WR  Penn State

The Vikings openly shat on Treadwell at the combine, so I anticipate they will find his replacement and trade him for what they can get after the draft.

63. New England Patriots - Da'Shawn Hand, DT  Alabama

The Patriots struggled with a very poor front 7, so DT will be a priority at some point.

64. Indianapolis Colts (f/CLE) - Duke Dawson, CB  Florida

The Colts add some more talent at CB.

I didn't think so, but they seem to think he's the best RB to come out in 25 years?

If so, they could bend the rule. I don't see what they see, but whatever.

If they want him, they better take him at 1. I don’t think he gets by the Giants.

  • 3 weeks later...

Now that the FA dust is mostly settled.

1.  Cleveland Browns - Sam Darnold, QB  USC

Word is that John Dorsey is going to make a sane decision here, and no doubt that decision would be QB.  While I don't think any QB sticks out in particular, Darnold has the pedigree that Dorsey wants.  Maybe the Browns will finally have their own guy.  Maybe.  Keep Hue the fuck away from him.

2.  New York Giants - Josh Rosen, QB  UCLA

I don't believe Gettleman will move down and I think he's smart enough to know that Eli Manning is dropping face-first off a cliff.  Rosen has the ability to start right away, which gives the Giants flexibility to trade Eli if a starting QB goes down in August.

I don't see a RB happening when the Giants need a QB and aren't planning to be at a spot this high again.

3.  New York Jets - Josh Allen, QB  Wyoming

The Jets are no strangers to picking the wrong QB and seem to love Allen.  Congrats, I guess.

4.  Cleveland Browns - Saquon Barkley, RB  Penn State

The Browns play it right and still get Barkley.  Darnold and Barkley will be an elite duo.

5.  Buffalo Bills (f/DEN) - Baker Mayfield, QB  Oklahoma

The Bills have to fend off any chance of the Dolphins or Cards getting Mayfield.  The Browns have too many picks to care about moving down again, but the Broncos will talk.

6.  Indianapolis Colts - Bradley Chubb, DE  North Carolina State

They got a great haul to slide down some slots and still get the top edge rusher.  Score.

7.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Quenton Nelson, OG  Notre Dame

The Bucs go pure BPA here.

8.  Chicago Bears - Denzel Ward, CB  Ohio State

Ward and Fuller will be a great duo.

9.  San Francisco 49ers - Tremaine Edmunds, LB  Virginia Tech

Lynch will look to add more pass-rushing ability.

10. Arizona Cardinals (f/OAK) - Lamar Jackson, QB  Louisville

The Cardinals can't rely on baby giraffe once Sam Bradford dies in Week 3.  They will move up right ahead of the Dolphins to get something.  Anything.

11. Miami Dolphins - Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB  Alabama

The Dolphins have a solid #2 in Howard, but not a legit #1 corner.

12. Denver Broncos (f/BUF) - Da'Ron Payne, DL  Alabama

The Broncos will need to prioritize DL with the Gotsis rape case.

13. Washington Redskins - Derrius Guice, RB  LSU

I think a team or two will panic and take a RB earlier than expected, and the Redskins seem to be prime targets.  The stable could be bare by the 2nd choice, they have the worst collection of backs in the NFL and a QB that could really use a boost from the run.  Options with Smith, Guice, Reed and Richardson has some potential.

14. Green Bay Packers - Derwin James, S  Florida State

Interesting decision to let Burnett walk, but James is a nice consolation prize.

15.  Oakland Raiders(f/ARZ) - Vita Vea, DL  Washington

The Raiders showed interest in Suh, but were completely blown off.  The Raiders will settle for Vea.

16.  Baltimore Ravens - Calvin Ridley, WR  Alabama

A WR and from Bama?  Ozzie just nutted.

17. Los Diego Chargers - Mason Rudolph, QB  Oklahoma State

I think as the path to the draft starts to wrap up, I think Rudolph will see a late surge and he'll get a lot of buzz as the possible successor for Big Ben or Drew Brees.  The Chargers are in the same boat with Shit Taco, as Rivers will be winding it up once his deal ends (imo).

The Chargers don't have a bunch of needs, so I think they can pull this move off and still fill holes.  They have to see Carr in Oakland (soon LV) and Mahomes in Kansas City and realize they can't stay out of the young guns arm race.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers (f/SEA) - Roquan Smith, ILB  Georgia

The Seahawks will be dying to move down for more picks as they rebuild most of the team and the Steelers will be aggressive to squeeze out one more title before Ben retires.  Losing Shazier was a crusher for the D, so they look to move right in front of Dallas for a sideline to sideline guy.

19.  Dallas Cowboys - Will Hernandez, G  UTEP

The Cowboys let Cooper walk, wisely.  Now they get the line back with a stronger LG.

20.  Detroit Lions - Marcus Davenport, Edge  UTSA

Davenport will be a key cog for Patricia's Defense.

21.  Cincinnati Bengals - Billy Price, OL  Ohio State

The Bengals won't be scared by the injury, and it'll work out for the best.  Adding Price and Cordy Glenn is a good start.

22. Denver Broncos - Sony Michel, RB  Georgia

The Broncos tab a new feature back to take the load off Case Keenum's shoulders.

23. Los Angeles Rams - Harold Landry, DE/OLB  Boston College

The Rams reach mightily to fill the biggest need, hoping to get 2016 Harold and not 2017 Harold.

24. Carolina Panthers - Donte Jackson, CB  LSU

Panthers gave up massive plays in the WC loss to the Saints.

25. Tennessee Titans - James Daniels, C  Iowa

Ben Jones is the weakest link on a mostly solid (with Conklin) line.

26. Atlanta Falcons - Taven Bryan, DT  Florida

The Falcons look to get better up front.

27.  New Orleans Saints - Hayden Hurst, TE  South Carolina

Some team will reach for a TE and the Saints look prime to do it.  Fleener fucking sucks, so they will take a chance on an old rookie.

28.  Seattle Seahawks - Josh Jackson, CB  Iowa

The Seahawks quietly get a major steal, and extra draft picks.

29.  Jacksonville Jaguars - Isaiah Wynn, OL  Georgia

A utility knife kind of guy, the Jaguars will add him somewhere on the line and enjoy some of the best blocking in the NFL.

30.  Minnesota Vikings - Mike Hughes, CB  Central Florida

Terrance Newman is older than dirt.

31. New England Patriots - Rashaan Evans, LB  Alabama

Belichick has to fix his leaky ass front 7.

32. Philadelphia Eagles - Maurice Hurst, DT  Michigan

The Eagles will continue to add to its DL.

I love the Thompson kid in Washington.

My only thing-

Does Ridley really fall that far?

Actually if it weren't for Ozzie Newsome and his Bama love, with dire need at WR, I wouldn't have ruled out Ridley falling out of the first round.

A bit older and didn't have the best numbers.

If Josh Jackson is there that late i think veach is exploring a trade up. It's peters without all the headaches.

I'm sure they will explore it, but I don't think they will go through with it
