2018 NFL Draft

3/5/18

Round 1

1 – Cleveland – Saquon Barkley  RB  Penn State

Dorsey takes the BPA in the draft.

2 – Denver (from NY Giants) -  Sam Darnold  QB  USC

Denver trades their 2018 1st and 2nd, and a 2019 2nd to move up for Darnold.  The Giants know that they had no running game, receivers, or offensive line last season which affected Eli’s performance.  They think he has a couple of years left, and they can help the offense by trading down for more picks.  There is still a good chance they can grab a QB to mold behind Eli for a year or two, at 5.

3 – Arizona (from Indianapolis) – Josh Rosen  QB  UCLA

Zona trades a 2018 1st and 3rd  round pick and a 2019 1st round pick for their QB.

4 – Cleveland (from Houston) – Baker Mayfield  QB  Oklahoma

Cleveland rolls the dice on the “only guy that can turn them around.”

5 ––NY Giants (from Denver) - Josh Allen  QB  Wyoming

The Giants gamble pays off and they still get a blue chip QB to learn from Manning.

6 – NY Jets – Bradley Chubb  EDGE  NC State

The Jets send 2018 pick 49 and 2019 2nd to Philadelphia for Nick Foles.  They are ecstatic to land Chubb at 6.

7 – Tampa Bay – Quenton Nelson  G  Notre Dame

Tampa takes the BPA.

8 – Chicago – Denzel Ward  CB  Ohio State

A little high for Ridley here.  Chicago could lose multiple DBs to free agency.

9 – San Francisco – Josh Jackson  CB  Iowa

The 9ers get help for their secondary.

10 – Oakland – Tremaine Edmunds  LB  Virginia Tech

Oakland has to upgrade the linebacking core.

Burnett is a free agent.  Minkah falls and the Pack use a 2018 3rd round pick to make a move for a major upgrade.

Cinci gets a needed oline upgrade.

13 – Washington – Vita Vea  DT  Washington

Interior line upgrade.

18 – Seattle – Marcus Davenport  EDGE  Texas-San Antonio

Davenport injects some youth into an aging pass rush.

25 – Tennessee – Will Hernandez  OG  UTEP

Both of their Guards are free agents.

26 – Atlanta – Carlton Davis  CB  Auburn

Collins was drafted to play across from Trufant.  He was cut.  Davis will take his spot.

27 – New Orleans – Hayden Hurst  TE  South Carolina

Fleener needs upgraded.

28 – Pittsburgh – Leighton Vander Esch  ILB  Boise St

3/27/18

Round 1

Eli had nothing around him last season.  Management rolls with Barkley for a big time backfield upgrade.

Dorsey takes his QB at 1 and goes BPA at this pick.  Garrett and Chubb will bookend nicely for years to come.

Buffalo trades picks 12 and 22 to move up for Mayfield.

Interior line upgrade.

Davenport injects some youth into an aging pass rush.

4 of the top 5 are gonna be qb's

Buffalo is trading for a top 4 pick. Worst kept secret in the league. Cleveland could have a tough decision at 4 between Barkley and Chubb. A pass rush of Chubb and Garrett would be pretty insane. The thing that scares me is that Barkley may fall right into the Donkeys lap at 5. That'll be fun for the next 5 years.

If the Giants keep that 2 pick and draft Barkley to put behind a 37 year old QB, and pass up the opportunity to take a guy like Josh Rosen...Gettleman will be looking for work again sooner than later.

Giants can't be stupid enough to take a RB 2nd overall. I don't care how good he is. They know they need a rebuild which is why OBJ is available even if the price is insane. They'll take the qb or the shit ton of picks from someone looking for a qb.

The closer we get to the draft, the more all the very obvious flaws from this group of qb's will start to disappear from GMs heads.

It's inversely proportional to their desperation to find an elite qb.

Mayfield is the one that makes me wonder if he'll drop though. He shouldn't... but you never know.

I’d pass on Barkley without blinking and go with the pass rusher. If it’s up to me I’m ever taking a RB top ten. Will be interesting to see if Dorsey’s success with Kareem leads him in same direction.

I read a report that said the Giants want Darnold only, or they will pass on a QB.  Take it for what it is worth.  Could be smokescreen.

Unless they trade up to 1, for Darnold, which is getting some buzz, I think they go Barkley or trade down.

To expand a bit further.

The Giants have some holes yes, but they still have a top tier Defense. They also have a QB that's hurting them more than helping.

If the Browns are stupid enough to go Josh Allen at 1, I don't see them moving down. Gettleman plays for the long-term 100% to the point that he let his all-pro corner walk in the summer.

I feel if they can get the QB they want, it's going to be a QB.

As for Josh Allen and the Browns, I'd be surprised. Just doesn't seem like a move John Dorsey would make. I don't think he's an elite football mind.

Seeing what would happen with Tannehill, if the Dolphins do go after Mayfield, will be interesting.

Solid work, SEMO.

Looking over the 2nd round guys, if I had to pick a guy that could fall further, I'm feeling that Ronnie Harrison is the best bet.  I think while he's really good at it, he's really more of a traditional in the box Safety and I just don't think those kind of guys hold as much value today vs a few years ago unless they can also play LB.

I'll give anyone credit that can mount anything worthwhile stat wise on a dog turd team like Rutgers (more like Buttgers), but I think he's just a guy.

Just average get off speed, not very physical or agile enough to be ideal around the edge.  I like that he keeps his legs moving, but the hand movement is horrible and once he loses the sissy slap fight he is done.  Of course he's raw as hell so lots of potential, but the stiff hips and the shoulder concerns are enough for me to look elsewhere.

A guy that will probably go earlier than he should.
