dksww 484
Free agency is 2 weeks away. Obviously the Chiefs have made moves, in other news I saw where Vontae Davis signed with BUF for 1 year, $5 million. The Lions franchise tagged Ziggy Ansah. Rumor has it the Bears are considering putting the tag on Kyle Fuller; Someone I wanted in KC. Jonathan Stewart was cut by CAR this morning. dksww 484
well that sucks it's a transition tag, so if signed by another team it's not a first round comp for the Bears. Just gives them the right to match. Likely out of the Chiefs' price range now.

If they counter offer and we sign him anyhow that's when the team would be liable for 2 firsts.
Iluvhouse24 1,808
Correct. If they counter offer and we sign him anyhow that's when the team would be liable for 2 firsts. This is inaccurate. There is no compensation attached to the transition tag. The only thing it guarantees is the Bears have the right to match any offer sheet he is signed to, and that he is assured of a 1 year contract equivalent to the average of the 10 highest paid players at his position averaged over the last 5 seasons. The last part is only if the player signs a transition offer sheet. That's a separate thing from the transition tag. Though they can do both they are not required to sign the offer sheet. If they don't sign the offer sheet, the team can't use that tag again for the life of the contract if they match an offer.
