Dolphins free agent Damien Williams has visits set up with Chiefs and Colts The Miami Dolphins had an active first week of free agency, but have Miami's decision makers improved the team's talent base? The Sun Sentinel's Omar Kelly and Chris Perkins discuss who's going and who's coming. Omar KellyContact ReporterSun Sentinel Privacy Policy Miami Dolphins tailback Damien Williams’ second year of flirtation with other teams will lead to two free-agent visits this week. Williams, who has served as Miami’s third-down tailback and a special-teams ace for the past four seasons, will visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, and the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday. The New York Jets also reportedly have interest in Williams, but no visit had been set up as of Sunday afternoon. Last year Williams, who was a restricted free agent, visited the New England Patriots, but was never offered a contract because the Patriots instead opted to sign tailback Mike Gillislee. Williams has contributed 477 rushing yards, nine touchdowns and caught 85 passes for 733 yards as Miami’s third-down back the past four seasons. The 25 year old is viewed as one of Miami’s emotional leaders, but Kenyan Drake’s emergence makes it unlikely that he’ll be Dolphins’ starter moving forward. The Dolphins remain interested in re-signing Williams, who missed the season’s final five games because of a separated shoulder, and could possibly get a deal done that will retain one of head coach Adam Gase’s favorite players. The Dolphins won’t be blindsided if Williams signs elsewhere because he’s pursuing a multi-year deal that will provide the former Oklahoma standout financial security. Miami is hosting veteran tailback DeMarco Murray on a free agent visit that began on Sunday. Murray, a seven-year veteran, has rushed for 7,174 yards and scored 55 touchdowns during his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Titans. Murray, who rushed for 659 yards (3.6 yards per carry) while sharing snaps with Derrick Henry last season, has already visited the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks but left both teams without a deal. DieHard 2,061
Sounds like a legit West replacement, but doubt he is looking to be buried at #3.
