Chiefs Visiting With Kendall Wright

Recommended Posts

Can’t hurt to take a look. I like his skill set, but can’t see us offering a lot with all our other needs and WR looking pretty tight.

I don't think we have a slot receiver on the roster. The good news is this draft is crap on top end number one type receivers but loaded and deep with specialist receivers including slot guys.

I would not overpay in FA for one.

Mike you know damn well that there has been halves, and even entire games where Reid has basically forgotten to call plays for his RB. He did it with Charles, he did it with Hunt. They collectively managed to do it during a playoff game last year with him, Childress, Bienemy, and Nagy all there involved. How does that happen? How does not one of these guys tap another one on the shoulder and say "hey...we have the fucking  league leader in rushing yards out there picking up blitzes". It's a valid concern on Moon's part.

Personally I think our offense is going to be so dynamic that it's gonna be a "pick your poison" type of deal, but I'm sure not going to be surprised when there are games in which a healthy Kareem Hunt gets 11 or 12 carries.

As I said situationally Andy can get too cute on a small scale. But the overall production of his RBs speaks for itself. He had a rookie LEAD the NFL in rushing last season for goodness sakes. Likewise Jamaal had the most productive season of his career with Andy and his red zone production absolutely exploded in Andy’s offense. My point is RBs play a huge role and have huge production in Andy’s offenses. That will absolutely continue this year with a healthy Hunt. Does Andy need to stay more patient with running game at times. Absolutely. But overall he’s one of the best in the business at utilizing his RBs.

To illustrate what Mloe was saying. Brian Westbrook averaged over 100 yards per game consistently. Some games it was more dependent on receiving and some games it was more dependent on rushing. Reid has a history of finding production out of a RB, it's just not always in a traditional RB mold. The offense that led to multiple NFC championship games a 1 super bowl is basically the same offense the Chiefs have been operating minus some minor changes here and there. I expect that to continue with Mahomes. Minor tweaks to fit his strengths, but still an Andy Reid offense.

If my memory serves me, a couple years back when we started like 1-6 or something abysmal what got us back in the playoff picture was a commitment to go back to Jamaal Charles as the centerpiece of our offense by feeding him the ball rushing. Andy doesn’t get situationally cute he bites off large chunks of the season. We did it this last year during the middle of the season because once defenses figured out the new wrinkle in our offense and Alex couldn’t adjust we kept trying to ram that peg in. We didn’t adjust until it was almost too late and again it but us in the but in the playoffs. Andy is a great coach but it’s one of his two most glaring weaknesses and it’s probably cost him a SB ring thus far. RBs have been a centerpiece of his offense but getting too cute with them disrupts the rhythm of the offense when things are clicking. The

Kendall Wright only met with the Chiefs yesterday, so no need to panic. Damien Williams met with them on Monday and didn't sign until Thursday, so it's nothing to be worried about.

I was listening to the NFL channel on sirius and Pat Kirwin said if nobody is signed by sunday (all teams) then it may be a while because of the owners meetings

in FLA next week

Your memory does not serve you. Charles went down in game #5 with a knee. That was the year west (and eventually ware) stepped in. The run was fueled by an opportunistic defense (peters’s rookie year), smith-to-maclin, and an emerging kelce. Not to mention a soft second half schedule.

Reid can certainly get away from the ground game too often for my taste, but I think that’s just part of his offense. His preferred lineman aren’t the type of guys that can pound away consistently — they’re nimble guys who can move and block in space. You may not like passing on 3rd and 1 but that’s the price you pay for his brand of O. Don't expect that to change with the “Air-Reid” offense (easily my new favorite phrase)
