Wow, at Steelers, NE, Rams and Seattle plus our conference foes..... that is brutal. Why is NE not coming here after we had to go there last year? Seattle may be done at the end of the year if Rams and SF beat up in them so it is good to see them late.

No schedule ever seems easy when it first comes out, but holy cow can we not get stuck with so many early road games every year? Fourth year in a row with three December home games? It is nice to have some kind of perceived advantage later, but you cannot fall into a hole early.

Cinc - W - Mahomes vs the Bungholes.

Den - L - Donks catch us sleepin.

@ Clev - W - Closer game then one might think.

AZ- W - Bradford might be injured.

@ LAR - L - High scoring game.

BYE

@ Oak - W - After Bye we get Chuckie.

Balt - W - Flacco coming to AH.

LAC - W - Split against the Bolts.

@ Sea - L - 1.5 week to prepare still tough against the 12th.

Last season was meant to be a tough start too. Pats, Philly, Bolts, Skins, Texans, Pitt, Den etc. On reflection, we took on the two SB teams, the team who chased us to the end In the AFC West, a dangerous Skins side who beat Seattle and the Rams away that season, a Texans side with Watson rolling and lastly Pitt who are obviously a quality team. So I don't think we should have anything to fear and tbh I think catching these teams early Is good for us. Really can't wait to see how our offense does against these teams. IF Mahomes starts hot then things could get very interesting :D

First six games are a brutal way to start a new QB. Survive that 3-3 or better and we go back to the playoffs.

Exactly. Even though the overall schedule isn't bad the start is rough for a young QB. If we can get a good streak going on there it'll be an easy path to the playoffs.

4 of first 6 games are tough, if we can eek out 3-3 we should be ok as the schedule lightens up with more home games down the stretch.

Hard to know what the Chiefs will do because in 5 seasons in KC, Reid and the Chiefs have started out slow 3 times, and came out on fire 2 times.

3-3 seems about right with a 1st year QB and those opponents.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were 4-2 after the first 6.

SD and DEN a definitely winnable games, we've won 8 in a row over SD and now 5 in a row over DEN.

JAX and SF at home are very winnable games.

Just leaves the games @PIT and @NE as the massive obstacles.

ESPN: 9-7

http://www.espn.com/blog/kansas-city-chiefs/post/_/id/24485/2018-kansas-city-chiefs-game-by-game-predictions

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 p.m. ET

The Chiefs have won eight straight against the Chargers, five times by double-digit margins. The streak continues, but just barely. Record: 1-0.

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 16, at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m. ET

The Chiefs haven’t won in Pittsburgh since 1986. They won’t be able to overcome all that bad history. Record: 1-1.

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 23, vs. San Francisco 49ers, 1 p.m. ET

Alex Smith was the 49ers quarterback the last time they played in Kansas City, in 2010. Much has changed since, but the result won’t. Record: 2-1.

Week 4: Monday, Oct. 1, at Denver Broncos, 8:15 p.m. ET

The Chiefs have won three straight in Denver, but victory came only on a field goal on the last play in each of the last two seasons. It’s the Broncos’ turn on their home field. Record: 2-2.

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m. ET

The Jaguars almost beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead two years ago, when they had a bad team. Jacksonville is no longer a joke. Record: 2-3.

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, at New England Patriots, 8:20 p.m. ET

The Chiefs pulled out a win in a memorable game in New England in prime time last year. It’s too much to ask for that to happen again. Record: 2-4.

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET

The Chiefs’ schedule eases considerably with the arrival of this game. The Chiefs will take advantage. Record: 3-4.

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 28, vs. Denver Broncos, 1 p.m. ET

The last five games at Arrowhead between these teams have been in prime time. The Chiefs will continue their modest winning streak in the daylight. Record: 4-4.

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m. ET

Browns GM John Dorsey, fired last year by the Chiefs, gets to watch the quarterback he so boldly moved up to draft for Kansas City in 2017. He’ll wish Patrick Mahomes II played for the Browns. Record: 5-4.

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 11, vs. Arizona Cardinals, 1 p.m. ET

Sam Bradford is 1-0 at Arrowhead, but that win came in the Big 12 championship game in 2008, when he played for Oklahoma. Things will be different this time. Record: 6-4.

Week 11: Monday, Nov. 19, vs. Los Angeles Rams (in Mexico City), 8:15 p.m. ET

Marcus Peters will be motivated to beat the team that traded him. He might even attempt to make a tackle or two. Record: 6-5.

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, at Oakland Raiders, 4:05 p.m. ET

Jon Gruden lost his first three games against the Chiefs in his previous time coaching the Raiders. He’ll get off to a similar start against Kansas City this time. Record: 7-5.

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 9, vs. Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. ET

Joe Flacco is 3-0 all time against the Chiefs, with two wins coming at Arrowhead. But there’s a first time for everything. Record: 8-5.

Week 15: Thursday, Dec. 13, vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 8:20 p.m. ET

The Chiefs’ long winning streak against the Chargers comes to an end, putting Kansas City’s playoff hopes in danger. Record: 8-6.

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, at Seattle Seahawks, 8:20 p.m. ET

The teams played a classic, hard-fought game at Arrowhead the last time they met, in 2014. Record: 8-7.

Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 30, vs. Oakland Raiders, 1 p.m. ET

The Chiefs get the win in their final game and a sweep of the Raiders. But will that be enough to put them in the playoffs? Record: 9-7.

-------------------------------

Opponents View:

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, @ Los Angeles Chargers.

Losers of eight straight against the Chiefs, the Chargers will face second-year pro Patrick Mahomes for the first time, as the Texas Tech product makes his second career start. Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley should have some wrinkles in store. Result: Chiefs Loss (0-1).

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 16, @ Steelers, 1 p.m. ET

This is a fascinating matchup because the Chiefs offense under Alex Smith struggled to beat the Steelers' zone coverages, but new quarterback Patrick Mahomes will try to challenge that scheme vertically. The Steelers will likely sell out on stopping Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, leaving Artie Burns or Joe Haden in one-on-ones against Sammy Watkins. Steelers will do just enough to contain him. Result: Chiefs Loss (0-2)

Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 23, vs. San Francisco 49ers, 1 p.m. ET

Kansas City offers a talented young quarterback in its own right and with many weapons at his disposal, Patrick Mahomes looks to have a bright future. It's fair to wonder if that will all coalesce this early, though, and the Chiefs' defense doesn't lack for questions. Result: Chiefs Loss (0-3)

Week 4: Monday, Oct. 1 @ Denver Broncos, 8:15 ET

Their playoff spot assured, the Chiefs sat most of their regulars last New Year's Eve in Denver and still gave the Broncos their 11th loss of the season. Patrick Mahomes got his first start at quarterback in that game and is now Andy Reid's permanent starting quarterback. Result: Chiefs Win (1-3)

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m. ET

The Chiefs are turning the team over to second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who started the 2017 regular-season finale and threw for 284 yards and no touchdowns with one interception in a victory over Denver. If he’s as good as he’s projected to be, the Chiefs could have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. The Jaguars’ defense might be the best one Mahomes faces all season. Result: Chiefs Loss: (1-4)

Week 6: Sunday Oct. 14, @ New England Patriots, 8:20 p.m. ET

Brady has mentioned how coming off Thursday night games – as the Patriots will be in this case – can almost be like a mini bye week. That’s timely against a Chiefs team that showed its mettle in coming to Gillette Stadium in last year’s opener and posting an impressive victory. But instead of having a full offseason to prepare as they did last season, the Chiefs will be coming off a home game against the Jaguars this time around. Advantage to the Patriots. Result: Chiefs Loss (1-5)

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET

The second matchup against the Steelers took so much out of the Bengals last season that a depleted defense allowed 33 points in a loss to the hapless Bears. It’s fair to expect there could be another post-Steelers letdown on the road against a playoff-caliber team like the Chiefs. Result: Chiefs Win (2-5)

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 28 vs. Denver Broncos, 1 p.m. ET

Last season's trip to Arrowhead was the real beginning of the spinning carousel that became the Broncos' quarterback depth chart. Trevor Siemian threw three interceptions in the Broncos' loss that night. Thus began the season of change, as the Broncos went through three starters behind center -- twice -- in the games that followed. Result: Chiefs Win (3-5)

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, @ Cleveland Browns, 1:00 p.m. ET

This will be an interesting game because the Browns will not have to face an experienced top quarterback. Patrick Mahomes gets the chance to take over in Kansas City. What gives the Chiefs the edge is their overall team speed. Result: Chiefs Win (4-5)

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 11, vs. Arizona Cardinals, 1 p.m. ET

Refreshed and ready for the second half, the Cardinals will be facing a second-year quarterback in Patrick Mahomes who’ll be midway through his first season as a starter. It’s time for Arizona to overwhelm him. Result: Chiefs Loss (4-6)

Week 11: Monday, Nov. 19, @ Los Angeles Rams, 8:15 p.m. ET

This one will take place from Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, which is a whole lot closer than Twickenham Stadium in London. The Rams will be thrilled about that. Marcus Peters, the former Chiefs cornerback, will probably spend a lot of time covering Sammy Watkins, the former Rams wide receiver. When Peters isn't covering him, it will be Talib. In other words: This will be a very tough test for second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Too tough. Result: Chiefs Loss (4-7)

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, @ Oakland Raiders, 4:05 p.m. ET

Alex Smith is gone, much to the relief of the Raider Nation. Patrick Mahomes II, welcome to the Black Hole. Result: Chiefs Loss (4-8)

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 9, vs. Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. ET

Patrick Mahomes takes over for Alex Smith as Kansas City’s starting quarterback, which works in Baltimore’s favor. Under coach John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 20-8 against rookie or second-year quarterbacks, forcing 27 interceptions. Result: Chiefs Loss (4-9)

Week 15: Thursday, Dec. 13, vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 8:20 p.m.

The Chiefs hosted the Chargers on a nationally televised, Thursday night game last season and the Bolts fell short. The Bolts suffer the same fate here. Result: Chiefs Win (5-9)

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, @ Seattle Seahawks, 8:20 p.m. ET

Facing first-year starter Patrick Mahomes at home in their final prime-time game, the Seahawks will end their two-game losing streak to begin another strong finish. Result: Chiefs Loss (5-10)

Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 30, vs. Oakland Raiders, 1 p.m. ET

Arrowhead Stadium has been Carr’s personal house of horrors. Can Gruden perform an exorcism? Result: Chiefs Win (6-10)

-------------------------

Consensus Wins: Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, @ Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders (4 Wins)

Consensus Losses: @ Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, @ New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, @ Seattle Seahawks (5 Losses).

Agree to Disagree: @ Los Angeles Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, @ Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, @ Oakland Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers

I like that our bye week is late in the season, need that extra week of rest for guys who will be dinged up.  We could also get a 6th primetime game if us and that loser Gruden are fighting for the AFC West....

The Raiders are going to be awful.  I'm saying 6-10 for them.

the difference between 9-7 & 6-10 are just a few costly/ timely penalties, favorable bounces of the Ball or costly injury.. Wilkie's standard 8-8 might just be spot on.. I'll wait n see till the 3rd preseason game to make my final prediction.

Other than the Browns', every team's media outlet is going to go through the new schedule and find any reason they can to make their team have a winning record or reach the playoffs.

Every team and their media thinks they've had a good enough off-season or whatever excuse it is to make them better than last year and win the games they are predicting.

You can set your watch to it every off-season.
