Well we have the extra 2nd from the Peters trade. As of now we're probably looking at an extra 6th in the compensatory formula for Terrance Mitchell. Ironically Albert Wilson is cancelling out Sammy Watkins in the compensatory formula; talk about an upgrade. Not sure about any other extra picks but i think we should have all our regular picks plus those.

Virginia Tech has earned a reputation for putting defensive backs in the NFL, and junior Adonis Alexander could be next in line.

Playing 665 snaps in 2016 as a sophomore, the 6-foot-3 195-pound Alexander recorded an overall grade of 77.5.

Among returning ACC cornerbacks that were targeted 30 or more times in 2016, Alexander’s completion percentage allowed of 46.2 percent ranked fourth-best.

He also showed the ability to play the run as his run-stop percentage of 3.1 percent is No. 2 among returning ACC corners.

Alexander’s 13.7 attempted tackles per missed tackle rank No. 3 among ACC corners returning in 2017.

Due to his sound tackling and size, he could be viewed as a safety at the next level for some NFL schemes.

this seems like the kind of move Veach would make if the brass believes he can add value in the next year or two. I don't know anything about him. Assume he's a good player. Why not enter the 2017 draft?

Says he wanted to return and try for National title and promised his parents he would graduate. He was on academic probation and couldn’t fall below 3.0 but he did last semester, that’s definitely a knock on his character even though we care about football skills not academics.

If any coaching staff can get the most out of him it’s ours......Could be a absolute steal

Mostly we overate these guys as far as what teams will be willing to do..

but I do believe I would give up a 4th for the guy.. seems like a decent player

but it all depends on what reid, and veach think of him..

Heard on the radio he was a first round talent. Academic probation could be an issue and should be looked into but let’s not make it akin to domestic abuse or illegal activities before we know. Like others have said suppl draft players rarely go for what we think. I remembered a lineman grimness maryland a few years back that was considered a first round talent that went for a 5th I think. I could see Veach making an offer if he feels the kid could contribute this year and help. I would think offering a 4th or 5th would mean we would need to feel confident he could make the team.

Three things

People tend to over value where guys go in supplemental drafts

This dude has considerable baggage.

He's misses valuable time in OTAs

Who cares if he misses OTA's?

Your giving up a NEXT years pick....So he should be considered as such and that Veach/Coaches are just getting there 2019 3rd or 4th round pick a year early!

Uh, because they may not give you much year 1 and missing time in OTAs and to study the playbook is critical to rookies. What a bad statement.

Anywho, would rather have Beal.

What a bad statement?  So your saying if someone came up to Reid/Veach and said "You can have this player a year early but give up next years draft pick vs have to wait till next year to get that player on the team"  you think they wouldn't LOVE to have the player now?

Looks like a couple more players going into the Sup draft.

Former Mississippi State S Brandon Bryant and former Western Michigan CB Sam Beal are expected to apply for eligibility to enter the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Bryant was selected last year to NFL.com's list of college football's fastest players and most freakish athletes. He's been timed as fast as a 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and can deadlift 600 pounds. At 5-foot-11, 200 pounds, Bryant made 32 tackles last year for the Bulldogs, including a season-high 11 at Auburn. He was withheld from MSU's spring practices for academic reasons, and announced he was leaving the school in April.

Beal (6-1, 185) broke up a team-high 10 passes for WMU last year, and made two interceptions. One of those interceptions came against New York Jets first-round pick Sam Darnold in a season-opening loss to USC. Beal was a second-team All-MAC selection.

Although it is typically held in July, a date for this year's supplemental draft hasn't yet been set.

Former Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander also intends to enter the supplemental draft.

NFL supplemental drafts often pass without any players being chosen, but Alexander, Bryant and Beal figure to be attractive options for NFL clubs with needs in the secondary. Clubs that select a player in the supplemental draft forfeit a draft pick in the corresponding round in the following year's regular draft. The last player taken in a supplemental draft was Clemson OT Isaiah Battle in 2015, a fifth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams.

Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal is petitioning the NCAA to become eligible for the NFL's supplemental draft next month, when he could become the highest-selected player since the Cleveland Browns used a second-round supplemental pick on Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon in 2012, per league sources.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Beal already was projected as one of the top picks in the 2019 NFL draft. If he is in next month's supplemental draft, NFL personnel people believe he likely would be picked somewhere in the first three rounds.
