The Kansas City Chiefs face a challenging schedule this season that will feature several of the league's top players and top position groups. Here's a look at five matchups in particular we're looking forward to, whether it's a case of strength against strength, or just to see what the Chiefs do against some of the top players on their schedule.

1. Chiefs receivers vs. Los Angeles Rams secondary

This one’s obvious. Chiefs Kingdom in general is very much looking forward to seeing what happens when the Chiefs face off against Marcus Peters for the first time, but the Rams offer more than just Peters in the secondary. With Pro Bowler Aqib Talib at the other cornerback spot and a pair of talented safeties in Lamarcus Joyner and John Johnson, the Rams will present one of the stiffest tests of the season for the talented Chiefs receiving corps. It’ll be the marquee attraction when the Chiefs face the Rams in Mexico City on November 19.

2. Chiefs receivers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars secondary

The Rams are far from the only elite secondary the Chiefs will face this season. Another will be Jacksonville, who boasts possibly the league’s best cornerback tandem in Jalen Ramsey (pictured) and A.J. Bouye to go with safeties Barry Church and Tashaun Gipson. This matchup will occur in Week 5, and along with a talented front seven could produce the stiffest test yet for Patrick Mahomes in his tenure as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback.

3. Chiefs offensive line vs. Denver Broncos pass rush

Those who thought the Broncos might go after their quarterback of the future in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft thought wrong. The Broncos instead spent their pick, which was at the No. 5 spot overall, on the draft’s top pass rusher in Bradley Chubb of NC State, who was rated by some to be at or near the same level as 2017 number one overall pick Myles Garrett. Chubb will team up with Von Miller to present headaches for Denver opponents, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the Chiefs handle this new threat.

4. Chiefs offensive line vs. Los Angeles Rams defensive line

The secondary is only the beginning of the challenges the Chiefs offense will face from the star-studded Rams defense. There’s some question as to how good the Rams will be on the edge, but their defensive line trio of Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Michael Brockers could be more than good enough to keep offensive linemen busy while the players on the edge take care of business. Donald could wind up being the best defensive player the Chiefs face all season, while Suh won’t be far behind. The Chiefs’ linemen will have their hands full here.

5. Eric Berry vs. Rob Gronkowski

Ok, so it’s a player matchup more than it is a position matchup, but we’re looking forward to seeing these two go at it once again this season. Berry unfortunately saw his season come to an end against the Patriots in Week 1 last year when he ruptured his Achilles late in the game, but before that he helped keep the All-World tight end Gronkowski under wraps and played a big part in the Chiefs’ upset win in New England. Here’s a great look at how Berry and the Chiefs defense shut down Gronk last year. Expect it to be a pivotal matchup again when these teams meet in Week 6.
