No shit sherlock, however you don't see too many pounding on the door to come here and many who know any history of the Chiefs, want to win a SB and make huge bucks are leary about staying.

Well, that was true in the past, but my understanding is that cap rules level the playing field now as far as how much can be paid.  Everyone has to deal with the same rules.  As far as wanting to go to a team that has a chance for a championship, that's us for quite a few years going forward, and for players that want to play and learn from Andy Reid, and Toub and for the legendary fans of Arrowhead, it is even more leverage for getting the better FA's.

On the negative side, KC is still a small market team compared to most other places, so the opportunities for making paid appearances and promotions of products locally is less for star players.  Since there are fewer people than in giant cities, there are fewer players with relatives who live in the KC area.  That can work both ways, though, because many players came from smaller places and would like to avoid the New Yorks, Chicagos, Philadelphias, Dallases, etc. or they hate their relatives LOL.  All in all, I think its a wash.

There are ways around the cap, teams have circumvented the cap for years. Big signing bonus little salary, however they do it they still do. Example a player begs another player on tv to come play with their team while the other player is still under contract. Technically the TEAM didn't do it just a player letting his wishes come out. So no tampering. There is away around everything if you try hard enough. The only way the Chiefs keep their homegrown players is by winning a lot, not just regular games but playoffs and SBs.

Prior to Brady and Belichick, NE didn't get players flocking to NE, same with Seattle.

Those are good observations and belong in the equation also.

Free agency will screw this up.

I disagree. We’ve got a cheap QB for four years. That’s a massive help. And we are already the youngest offensive group in the division with the most skill position talent. And we’ve got likely 3 top 50 picks in the next draft to continue to build defense in earnest. The key is for Veach to lock up the right guys. At least a three year window opens in earnest next year and much longer if Mahomes becomes a star.

The key is the QB. NE never overpays players and is great at avoiding veteran collapses in skill level because of that. This is where Dorsey was a disaster. But they get value guys who want to sign there because they are annual playoff contenders.

Or really because they want to play with Brady. We haven’t had an elite QB here who could command that type of respect in many decades.

Heck even a broken down Joe Montana got us a few guys like Marcus Allen. So Mahomes is THE key. At long last we at least have a legit chance to develop our first home grown elite QB in franchise history. I’m expecting growing pains early. Maybe a lot. But I’ve never been this overall optimistic.

If things work out as we hope Mahomes will make a lot of average receivers look like stars. We'll keep trading away guys or picking up comp. picks to keep building the defense and could be in for a nice ride for the next 15 years. The current investment on offense is simply Veach trying to make sure that Mahomes will get to that lever sooner.
