Two Amazing Tough AFC Road Wins

Recommended Posts

Wow 2-0 on the road.  Yes the defense looks lost..... Yet Pitts and SD are both very good offenses with Hall of Fame Qbs. They have both better D than KC yet KC lit them up. Mahomes looks like a very calm experienced QB. KC can run or throw it. I like that Reid is taking what they opposing D is giving them and not forcing the run if its not there. Seems to be willing to keep pushing it vs protecting a lead. Trusting Mahomes is the key and the kid has not turned it over yet. Nice to see a QB that is not a human sack waiting to happen. Oline looks better as a result of Mahomes keeping his eyes downfield.  Love the vertical throws vs too many screens  and  dink dunk. How about that red zone offense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAT on punts so they cant just kick it away from HIll is a luxury.

Being a Chiefs fan just became a lot more fun win or lose.

KC currently in control of the AFC. KC can beat anyone. Every team will be extremely stressed game planning against this offense and special teams. Looks like some exciting football for the next 10-15 years.

SF next week at home and then Den Monday night on the road. Can this team be 4-0 with three road wins?

It's possible.  Opposing coordinators will have a very hard time adjusting to Mahomes game.  There's just too many options and we haven't seen the best of Hunt yet.  At the same time, I fear that as a rookie, Mahomes is likely to have a down game or two.  It's concerning that the national media is starting to get on the bandwagon and the kid is still very young.  Right now, it's just fun to enjoy the ride as long as it lasts and look for some very exciting football.

Remember he's not a rookie and he's been around the bright lights for years.

Now grant it, he is young and it can be overwhelming but he has more experience and poise than Brady had when he started.

Even if this weren't superstitious nonsense, the ship has sailed on us being under the radar as long as we have a healthy Mahomes.

Remember how everyone in the country that wasn't an Indy fan felt about the Colts from Manning's second year on?  Well that is how everyone except us is going to feel about the Chiefs.  Mahomes is the real freaking deal.  If he A) doesn't have injury shorten his career, and B. Wins a Super Bowl, he will eclipse George Brett status as legend in KC.  Kid is so talented, and everyone knows it.

Never really considered Chargers a top defense but the Steelers always are as they have a tough mentality. This was a big win for the offense and it probably shows what we can do in the postseason. Teams can no longer cover 20 yards and be done with it, they have to look out for the vertical game every play.

Based on yards, Chargers are #8 and Steelers are #24. On points 25 and 28 respectively, but both have played the Chiefs who are #6 in yards and #1 in points.

Last year the Chargers were #15 in yards and Steelers were #5. In points,Chargers were #3 and Steelers were #7.

On a side note. KC D was #5 in yards and #15 in points.

Hopefully the excitement of Mahomes brings the Arrowhead experience and home field advantage back.  If we're honest with ourselves, that was more of a myth then reality since the 90's but would be great to get that back to help our defense.   With Mahomes, our D doesn't have to be a rock, they can be bend don't break but get a drive killing sack every now and then.....

What's the difference between Mahomes and Peyton Manning?   They were professional quarterbacks before they came to the NFL.

Both had professional athlete fathers as mentors and both knew exactly what they were getting in to.

The best things about Pat Mahomes is not his arm and his surrounding cast.  The best things about Pat Mahomes is is intelligence and character.

Do not expect a let down...expect him to get better.

At the same time, what's so incredible about Mahomes is that he's relatively new to football and pretty raw, relatively speaking.  Imagine what he'll be like when he's polished...

That's what is so cool about this.  Skies the limit at this point and time.

He is polished. Last year sitting was a good decision. Would have been nice to start him in the playoffs or bring him in the 4th quarter. I think he was ready.

He's more polished than he was coming out of college, maybe a lot more, but I still think there is a lot of rawness there.

How many throws did Smith throw against the Steelers that traveled more than ten yds. downfield?  Mahomes completed 12 that long or longer if my count is correct.  No defense can cover Kelce, Watkins, Hill, with Conley or Robinson thrown in the mix and Hunt and Ware as receiving threats.  It will take a solid O-line and timely run plays by the RBs to keep defenses honest, but I'll bet there will be some late nights for upcoming opposing D. Coordinators.  No more eight in the box and take the chance on an occasional deep throw.  Either they have to figure a way to get quicker pressure or just hope Mahomes is a little off when they play.

That is the key Jet, Mahomes knows the offense - he makes quick reads - and the ball gets out very fast.

If pressure comes, he instructively rolls away from it and still makes tough throws.  (Exhibit A: Robinson TD...Tough throw)

Guys, pray he stays healthy...he is the real deal.  I Like him better than Andrew Luck- as he is more mobile and has better arm strength
