Will Watkins be ready?

Recommended Posts

Will you people quit complaining about these player contracts?  It's not your money.

Without any roster moves, going into 2019 the Chiefs have $42 million in cap space available.  They have $63 million available for 2020.

They have plenty of money and cap room to make moves and to pay players.

They're also not going to cut anybody for being injured who also has a huge dead money cap hit so please quit suggesting it.

Sammy is the secret weapon and an absolute nightmare for cover 2/ cover 3 if he plays. No defense has had an answer for Chiefs with Sammy in the lineup.

According to the initial reporting on this by Mellinger, Watkins should be ready to go in this one based on the timing for recovery.  But, it’s the Chiefs and the playoffs so he likely misses this one.

Watkins really was starting to deliver a dynamic to this offense not many WRs could. The perfect compliment to Tyreeks skills that was putting our offense in historical realms of good. From that standpoint Veach really got it right.

You just can’t ignore injury history of players though. Some body’s just weren’t meant to carry weight or stress of a pro football player.  No reason he can’t treat this in earnest and come back strong next year.  But anything he adds at this point will have to be considered a bonus like Berry.  At least it’s possible.

I rewatched some Pat Mahomes highlights and Watkins was a big part of it. I'm frustrated with his injury history and what's happened this season, but really hope he plays.

13 catches, 179 yards and 2 TDs in the two games before he got hurt as the number 3  receiving option in this offense.  Think about that.

Watkins is valuable for his speed and YAC, but he's more needed to take pressure off Kelce and Hill.  Conley and Robinson don't scare anybody but Watkins does and he has to be accounted for.  I don't care if he gets two receptions for 15 yards, he helps the offense by forcing the safeties to account for him on every play.  He can do damage if covered one on one.
